2012 - Post 1st comp round

Rate this Entry
Course: Glenmore Heritage Valley
Comp: Single stableford
Score: 39 points (15/24)
H/cap movement: Down (13.8 to 13.0)

I'd had a couple of social rounds at Glenmore earlier in the week and the comp round seemed to mirror what happened in those social rounds.

The most pleasing aspect was the fact that I performed well on the back 9. +1 overall from 10 through to 18, with 2 birdies on the index 2 and 5 holes of our course. I knew as I was standing over a 6.5m birdie putt on the 18th that I'd have shot even par for the 9, but sadly it just grazed the left edge and left me a short tap in for par.

However the front 9 (and the opening 3 holes in particular) were very poor, even though they are really straightforward holes where I should be at worst going par, par, par. To get to the 4th tee with just 2 points was rather annoying, but I was happy that I didn't let that frustration get to me over the remaining holes.

Equipment wise I'm feeling very satisfied, especially with the irons.

Next comp round: If I can muster up the energy, I'll be playing early tomorrow morning at Windsor. Otherwise Thursday's back tee challenge at Glenmore.
