2012.

Well, I realised that I had created a post where I intended to chronicle my golfing journey through 2011 through this blog. Seems like I failed to do that.

On reflection, I didn't get to single figures in 2011 because I simply didn't play enough comp golf, and when I did, I couldn't put the various bits and pieces together. However I did start the year on 16.9 and finish on 13.8 (albeit after reaching a low of 12.4 after the Windsor round of 5 January). And my bag chopped and changed consistently.

So as I watch Leicester City v Portsmouth on Fox Sports 2, here are my goals and hopes for my golf in 2012:
  1. Get the handicap down to 10 or lower. Part of this is looking at my Golfshot statistics, working out the main weaknesses of my on course game, and improving those. 41% fairways hit, 32% GIR, 21% success in scrambling, 20% sand saves, and 2 putts per GIR shows that there is a fair bit of room for improvement.
  2. Play at least 25 comp rounds this year. Once a fortnight caters for my summer playing cricket, and the hope that I'll be able to regularly get myself playing Saturday comp rounds at Glenmore.
  3. Become more interested in the golf swing and what makes a good one a good one. Seeing the discussions in Virge's swing thread and some of the Youtube vids has made me want to broaden my horizons. Seek and ye shall find, said a very wise man.
  4. Stop buying shit to replace shit I didn't need to sell. For example, I like the 09 TPs that I currently have in the bag, and I just need to remember that when I see the next bargain in the Pro Shop.
  5. Head away for a week of golf. Champs this year is a maybe at best, but I am going to be heading up to far north Queensland in mid June to play a few rounds with the friendly folk up there.
  6. Enjoy the game and not take it too seriously. After all, sheep stations aren't being played for.

You have it down pat KJ, number 6 is the best point for a year of playing the game. Just have a crack and have fun.

Good luck KJ! Same with last year, didn't really keep up the blog, but I also didn't really keep up the work.

I think we've got similar goals and expectations, as well as similar plans to get there...

And if you really want to add some incentive, you can always join the biggest loser comp!
