10/11/12 Saturday. A good week of golfing fun finally getting out to practise without interruptions. The cross us amateur golfers bear is that we have to let golf be second more often than not to our regular living. In my example the need to have less time golfing is not that much of an irritant. The balm being that my golf has improved a lot since 2009. The 'less is more' as an ethos to recover from the injury flare-up in August has been maintained in line with not having to practice as much to ...
5/11/12 Monday. It has taken a few weeks and little good fortune but at last I have returned to the winners list. This weekend took the extra step and played twice in competition Saturday at Kingston SE Stroke round for a Gross 89 for a Nett 77 (12hcp) with 33 putts. With a sub 80 gross score dropping off my handicap went out to 14 for the Sunday round. Nothing spectacular playing wise plugged along steady steady had a few chances for birdie along the way, still with a poor ...
3/4/12 Tuesday The weekend tournament at Bordertown was one of extremes in golf. The first day is still one that has me bemused at the result. Starting on the backnine my final scores on the nines were 55 and a 51, total gross 106 for a nett 93. Last time I had a 100 plus score was in September 2011 when I was struggling to play with the golfers elbow injury, prior to that was in November2010 when playing off a 19 handicap. This round was one of total inconsistency. Could not drive of the tee with ...
10/3/12 Saturday. Returned from Naracoorte after the first round of the Summer Open in a good frame of mind and a little bemused that I did not perform better. The gross score of 92 (79 nett) came from poor putting, could not get the confidence to get the ball up to or past the hole with the first crack. Dropped all the second putts except for one hole and that was an expensive 8, two other holes with a 7 and and 5 were where the damage was done. The first two were the only holes where the drive ...
19/12/11 Monday. Enjoyed the round at Kingston SE in the Summer Open event. Four golfers from the Robe club went on the day which could have been an extreme set of weather conditions given the skies and the forecast. The rain held off, was a humid trek around the course and the northerly wind was very different to the usual breeze. After the hit on Wednesday travelling through to Adelaide the course layout was familiar in my mind and I started out well with a 42 off the stick on the front nine. ...
