  1. Queensland golf trip, or how to enjoy yourself while sucking at golf

Late last week I flew into Brisbane for an overnight golf trip with some mates from Uni. We're pretty far flung nowadays (one lives in London) and we are lucky to get the foursome together once a year, so it's a big deal for us and we try to make a big event of it - nice courses, grudge-match atmosphere and constant sledging over 2 rounds. It's the highlight of my golfing year.

Our first round was at Brookwater, and I was very impressed. What a lovely course. That said, I pity the ...

  3. Hawkesbury Classic Paddle 2010

Thought this would be a perfect spot for my Hawkesbury Classic posts.

2010 has now begun. I am on the hunt for a faster kayak for this years classic. Looking at a TK1 class kayak for this years event. They average around 11-13km/h. I averaged 6-7 last year in the kayak I had borrowed. Will be fitter and also mentally stronger for this attempt. 111 kilometres and not the 65 that I did last time.

  4. Comp Blog - 10 April 2010 (First game back on Scratch)

    Date: 10 April, 2010
    Comp: Stableford
    Conditions: Breezy
    Score: 34pts (74)
    ACR: 72

First game back on a scratch handicap in about 14 years after the new handicap system was implemented. It was also the first game I have played hungover for a long time. Front 9 was a bit of a blur, the ball was moving forward and fairly straight and I managed to turn Level par. The highlight of the nine being the continuation of a battle we have every week with the course ...

  5. Comp Blog - 3 April, 2010

    Date: 3 April, 2010
    Comp: Medal
    Conditions: Slow, Damp
    Score: 74 / 73
    CCR: 72

Medal today. Wasn't anything to write home about, I played with the same ball the whole round and holed a 40 footer. Chipping was quite bad and hence missed a lot of of up and downs due to having 8 - 10 feet putts all the time. Had my first cold top since I can remember and still made birdie (although it is a temp green)

Might snag a ball if I'm lucky.
