View Full Version : OZGOLF club championships

I have an Idea  of having an Ozgolf Club Champion (help needed)

Some of my thoughts

2 ozgolf members to play together for a score to be entered

Best 3 scores between now and Dec 25 [next year best 4 rounds]

Australia (world) wide

Starting May 1

What do you think

Why is it backdated? :smt017 Dodgy!

Hasn't this been mentioned before in another thread? Or was it another site? :?

Jarro

sounds like a great idea

i can submit my card from todays hitout at Toowoomba :D

Onewood mentioned the idea to me while he was up here. I think it's a great idea :smt115
It may be difficult for me as Mike and wavemaker are the only ozgolf members up here, but I will do what I can.
Does it have to be in a comp round?

jeez I had better play well when I actually get to one of these days

We can make it from the start of Ozgolf :smt102 nothing dodgy, just gives everyone a chance to get some cards in and get the ball rolling with a tally room \:D/

I think I did mention it before but it may have been lost....

Courty, time to start recruiting  :D

Don't worry... I've been trying. Maybe if clikchic sends me some Ozgolf.net merchandise I can do some publicity stuff... :D :smt026

Sigh... now I really have to talk the Sydney guys into coming for a hit-out with me here at Shellharbour....

Or I have to talk someone here into signing up with Ozgolf....

Decisions!!

Either way, you're going to have to 'talk' to someone. Psych up!! ;)
Why can't we just roll back 2 years, and we can have past winners based on GolfLink history?

Perhaps we could make Miss OzGolf the trophy? Perhaps a female winner could claim the 'Men of OzGolf' as a prize.. that's no reward really...

I think you've been putting too much time into working this out. Bit of a slow day today, is it? :D

great idea Onewood. couldnt have done a better job myself ;-)

Really neeed 3 categories
Champion (Gross)
Burglar Champion (Nett)
Mulligan Champion (gross score no handicap).
Bradman (obvious)

Of course the Faves would be, Jaster, Onewood, Macleod, Golfer69

Also you need to adjust for CCR/ACR otherwise it wont be fair.
The easy way to do that is when reporting scores, instead of saying I had a gross 75 nett 71 at Par 72 CCR 71

instead the scores would be collated at Gross +5 nett +1.

jaster
14th May 2004, 12:49 PM
Interesting idea...I think impossible on seperate courses to do fairly...maybe we could do something with handicaps??

Most strokes reduced off handicap for period 1 June 04 to 31 December 04

Most strokes increased on handicap for period 1 June 04 to 31 December 04

Lowest Stroke average (10 round min)

etc etc

Onewood
14th May 2004, 06:45 PM
Jaster - 72 nett
Goughy - 75 nett
Jarro - 77 nett
Eag's - 81 nett
Nudgee - 90nett
Onewood -38pts
Courty - 30pts

Anymore scores

Jaster, everyone has there handicaps on what ever course  It not fairness we're looking for it's FUN :smt057

This is ozgolf day's only

You need to play with a fellow ozgolf member to be eligible 8)

I will keep an eye on the "hows your form" thread and if you've played and mentioned a fellow ozgolfer that you played with, I will count your score :D

So the guy's playing Indro on Sunday and the E-lakes game will count.

Best 3 cards at xmas will determine the ozgolf club champ =D>

This thread seems to have died.....

I have the software already to manage the scores - Gstat. It can determine winners from Average Gross, Nett, for any number of rounds (ie 3, 10, whatever).

Can also do like an OOM points system, 1st = 10, 2nd = 7, 3rd = 5 4th = 3 and everyone gets a point for turning up.

Can also do teams, like Gold Coast, Darling Downs, Nth qld and that other mob.

Or if you like can do all of the above.

All the punters have to do is go to a web site and enter the scores into a web form.

For those who dont have a handicap the software can caclulate and manage one for you.

I can then publish the report to the Ozgolf forum.

If someone uses the same program, we can share then share the data to maintain integrity of the system.

No, but the programmer is a good bloke. He answers emails and will add any feature that is requested for free, including anything that we need for this caper. On that basis alone he gets my recommendation every time.

You've already got me sold. I'll be checking it out as soon as I get a new PC.

Why are we still discussing the format of this thing? Onewood set out the rules, and it's his thread. If you don't like it, set up a new Super-OzGolf League or something. :P

Well add a couple of 38 pointers to Blakey and myself from last Sunday. I didn't get jono's score.

sounds good to me :!:

where abouts :?:

jaster
1st July 2004, 07:38 PM
Sound's like a great idea, $10 in each for the nett and $10 for the gross, 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes. Only problem will be choosing a time and location that atleast 20ish Ozgolfers can make it and where we can play uninterupted for 36 holes....unless you were thinking over 2 days...but this may limit a few people. Good idea though 8)

Jono
1st July 2004, 07:55 PM
How about Coolangatta-Tweed? We can play the West course in the morning comp, have lunch, and the get on the River course for a social round in the arvo. It should be quite easy to fit in 36 holes in one day if we take advantage of daylight savings later in the year. Then we can have a barbie and presentations afterwards.

With the GC airport close by, some of us from Sydney can fly up as well, giving the Ozgolf Cup an interstate flavour. I'm certainly keen as long as we get plenty of notice.

BrisVegas

Yep, Coolangatta Tweed is fine by me. I don't really mind where we go within 1-2 hours of Vegas.

Other alternatives I can think of....

Nudgee - North & South
Indro - West & East
Toowoomba - Middle Ridge & City (bit more complicated, but our founding fathers live there  )
Lakelands & Palm Meadows (they're across the road from each other)
Sanctuary Cove - Palms & Pines (not sure what it costs to stay at the Hyatt though..)
Gainsborough Greens - sooo quiet, should be no dramas to play twice. Be cool to see the big hitters overpowering the place!

Jarro
2nd July 2004, 10:26 AM
sorry guys, Nudgee is out :(

i just phoned them and asked if we might be able to have our championships there sometime around the 31st October.... but they're booked pretty solid with comps on BOTH courses.

best we could do would be ahit at the South course in the am, then again later in the day :x
