I want a cheap (few models old is ok by me) ball to use.

I loved the tri-tours, anything like that these days cheap?

new topflite gamer even? nxt tour?

dont mind buying 2nd hand AAA grade.

I dont really care for the prov1's or hx tours, i just dont see the big distance or spin thing, as long as the ball flies its ok by me, but dont want a rock.

Thanks all

I liked the Srixon AD-333, tried one on the weekend. Connected with a few trees, and took the punishment quite well.
Maxfli Long & Soft Noodles are also good. Rotini's are quite cheap on Ebay at the moment ($15/Doz brand new)

Cheers

Snake Eyes made a half decent 3 piece if you can find it.

Try the new NXT extreme $40 and the reviews say its close to the old pro v. I tried it and the new tour. I liked the extreme

i found one in the bushes as Keperra... then promptly hit it in the water off the tee on the next hole.

it felt soft though ;)

Has anybody tried the Bridgestone E5's and E6's?
Was going to give them a try as well. A bloke is selling them cheap in Rockhampton ($35/Doz E6+ new) and I'll be down there in a few weeks.

Hogan Hawks are ok and can be found around the traps for $32 a doz. Not too hard a ball not too soft.

Yes mate have tried both and found the E6 was far more responsive and nice and soft of the putter face. The E5 has a much harder cover but does fly quite a bit further.

FWIW I've preferred the feel of the E5s to the E6s. A pretty comparable ball to the U-Tri Tour though.

Precept laddie - not a bad ball for the price. Pretty soft too.

Ballsabillion is the ebay shop of The Golfers Hole at Burleigh. 30 AAA E5 for $55 including postage. I've tried most of the brands they sell from their shop & I like Bridgestone E5 & E6, Tourstage, Nike Super Soft & Pinnacle Exception.

Where is the Golfers Hole exactly? i am heading up that way this weekend and might be able to do some ball shopping.

They are at 73 Lower West Burleigh Rd, Burleigh Heads. Not the flashest shop, but plenty of second hand balls. They also sell the new ClickGear trolleys that people here have been talking about.

If ever I win a ball in the weekly comp, I always pay a little extra and get a premium ball liek Pro V or Calla HX Tour. I thought I'd give the Titleist NXT Tour a go.

I put this into play after the 13th (due to a lost Pro V) and I was a little disappointed. As an example, I hit a great drive down the last had about 125mtr to the hole. Pured a 9 iron, came in nice and high, it landed about 1 foot left of the hole and pin high, bloody thing kept on going. No spin, nada, zip, zilch. Left me a 20 foot down hill putt.

IMO steer clear of the NXT's if your after any sort of ball control on the greens.

I am in the middle of a review for Boz and his balls vs the Gamer and NXT tour if that helps.

Should be finished tomorrow or so. Did some good testing on the launch monitor too.

although brookwater has tour ultimates (which i used for years and years) and tour ace's for great prices, i cant seem to leave the tour aces

I've played a little with the Gamer, it's no ProV, isn't mean't to be.
If you normally play Srixon AD333's or Srixon Soft Feels, Titleist SoLo's or Laddies I reckon you gotta try the Gamer.
About $30 a doz too which works for me.

I was just about to say that! :)

Taylormade Red's (not the TP ones) can be had for peanuts all over the place now, too, and they're not bad.

And the old faithful, Maxfli Noodles, are always cheap, and quite a nice ball too. I bought a bunch of the clear-covered Noodles (Noodle Ice?) a while back, and they're great short-game balls, extremely soft and responsive. Made my slice off the driver veeeery evident though.... :smt087
