Hiya Slicer and welcome to a fellow Victorian.:smt038 I see you live at Beaconsfield. Is Beacon Hills a private or public course. I've played there twice and it is a great course - good challenge. We are playing them in pennant today at Devil Bend. Cross your fingers for us for a win.
Keep your eye on the forum and maybe you could join us when us Vics get together for a game.

Yeah, keep an eye in the 1st tee forum for any of the Vic games. You'd be more than welcome.

I'm guessing you have a problem with hitting at the right side of the fairway?? ;)

Hi slicer and welcome to the funny farm...

Try Kingston Links, Beacon Hills, Montuna and Pakenham (if it's still operational). They are all near you. Heaps of others depending on how far you want to travel.

FG - Beacon Hills takes green fee paying customers. Although you can take out a membership there.

Go to Southern. If it isn't a public course, it should be.

welcome!!! :)
i live in boronia so i'm not too far away.
nearby clubs, chuchill park, waverley (if you like powerlines) riversdale, huntingdale, metropolitain.
just depends on how far you want to drive
i'm a member of southern and it's come along in leaps and bounds, the greens now are so good and the fairways are the best you'll find anywhere, except royal melbourne coz they have no fairways at the moment.

He epitomises all that is feral.

Rumor has it that letting fireworks off on the course at Southern doesn't even raise an eyebrow.

So you judge the golf club based on your opinion of one member? We have at least two other members of Southern on this forum.

They surely can't be as odd as the other one.

I found Southern had a lot better clientele than a lot of the Top 100 courses I've played at.

AndyP
17th April 2008, 08:58 PM
Of the public courses listed above, I've only played Kingston Links. I think it was the first course I played in Melbourne. It seemed pretty good. Really open and bloody blowy though.

southern is a great club
yes there are some indifferent members there but you get it everywhere.
the only reason that some people call it 'bogan central' is because the people around there are all friendly and love to have a drink after the game.
i reckon it's great that happens, thats how you get to know a lot of the members.
there's a couple of clubs around that are a bunch of snobs but not our boys.
another nice club is spring valley, great people down there too.

sms316, why are still so angry at mrdennis? Is it because he smashed you in a grudge match and took all your money after you had baited him for months and then failed to back up your alleged ability with some decent golf?

SMS,
I am also a member of Southern and have read the rubbish that used to go on at the other forum. If you're going to dole out that dribble here save it, there are imbeciles and d!ckheads at every club. I have hosted more than one Vic Ozgolf day at Southern and to my knowledge none of the attendees at these days saw any drunken c0ckheads on or off the course.

I play at Southern because I think that the course is great and I get to play with my dad every week. It would be foolish for me to suggest that wankers didn't exist at the club, but I don't think anyone here could honestly say that their member base is flawless.

Let's not start that club bashing crap here.

sms316,

Why you find the need to attack me given you have no idea who I am baffles me.

I have read your issues with mrdenn1s on the other site.

It seems like you couldn't back up your trash talk, he whipped your arse and took your money.

Rumour has it you are also banned from that site for being a twit like you are doing here now. Anyone who gets a life ban from TPF must be an absolute moron.

Why do you continue to wreck perfectly good forums like this with your dribble? This thread isn't even about you.

If you want to tackle mrdenn1s, start a thread. He may even join the forum and take you on.

Incorrect you fat slob

I just heard about this thread. Thought I might come over and have a look

Can't believe you aren't banned from here yet also

Fact:

1) You are a fat slob
2) I beat your arse
3) I took your money
4) You lit firecackers on the first tee at Southern as my guest
5) You lie about your handicap
6) You are a fat slob

I'm sorry to ozgolf for having to post this as I wish your forum no harm. However, for the sake of ongoing decorum, you need to ban that idiot sms316.

If he got banned from TGF, one can only image the crap he posts here.

PS Bruce....The mormon line isn't too bad :)

Bye

Afraid not, since I am not going to go down this well worn and tedious path.

And anyone who wants to question my handicap or golfing ability can come down to Canberra and find out for themselves.

Hi and thanks to everyone ..
played the royal pakenham public course (86) which is in great condition, Tirhatuan (92) and Kingston links on a very windy day(92) 80 till last 2 holes when a full hit of a t3 was a little shy !! love to play more i hear the sand belt areas are good to play in winter? like to try rosebud, mornington ? are they good in winter?

Flowergirl
12th May 2008, 09:53 PM
Slicer - yep both Rosebud Park and Rosebud Country Club are excellent courses in winter. Both handle the wet ( not that we have had much rain) and aren't very exposed to the wind that some of the Peninsula courses can be subject to. Give them a try.;)

thanx fg will try them soom... think i played mornington once is a long course i seem to remember ?

Flowergirl
13th May 2008, 12:46 PM
Mornington is pretty long and very unforgiving. The fairways all slope so you get the ball running off the fairway a lot and a lot of the greens are table tops that are hard to hit. But still a good challenge. Played there last month in pennant with very mixed results. Ended squaring the match.

Rosebud Park is also on a hillside so pretty steep and a lot of run off the fairways. The greens are very tricky to read but there a are a lot of shorter par 4's so if your approach is accurate you will be rewarded - if you can read the greens.
Rosebud Country Club is pretty forgiving - what you see is usually what you get. Not real long and the approaches to the greens are quite easy. I've dropped my handicap playing there more than my home course.

rosebud park (carrington park) i think is a nice little course, rosebud country club is a beautiful club also.
i don't think you can go past moonah, cape schank, the dunes and eagle ridge.
they are all great courses too.
