Hi All

Am thinking of getting on the 7 wood band wagon and am interested to hear from those of you who have them. What are good ones and what ones should be avoided?
Only just started looking recently and don't really know what to get. Do Titleist make a 7 Wood? Would love to get one in the same model as my 4 wood.

I've tried two.

I had a V-steel 7W for a little while and just found the head to be too small to be confident and comfortable over.

I only had a little hit with the Ping G2 7W before passing it on, and it was the opposite in size. I'm not sure how it would go for getting through the rough, but it felt alright.

Well this girl is starting to admit he is not man enough to hit 3i all day every day.

;)

I have no doubt one of these would change my game. But I'm more worries about 100mtrs in atm.

That is the other club config change. Going to drop the 52/56/60 and go to 54/58. Too many decisions with 3 wedges. Dropping the wedge will make a spot for the 7 wood.

then you need a 6W then, 7W is a 4 iron.

as for which 7W you need, if you hook, dont get a hook biased one. If you slice, get a hook biased one.

if you hit the ball too low, get one that hits the ball high, if you hit the ball too high get one that goes low

in other words, getting reccommendations from others what head to use is an exercise in futility. :-)

you need to work out the peformance characteristics you are looking for. then find a head that has those characteristics. Then get the right shaft and fitting for it, and get someone to put it together. And it WILL work.

You dont need to try the club out.... its the shaft and fitting that you need to try out. any head on the end of a correct fitting will work.

but then again, that would be the boring way to do it ....

thanks MTB, I would love a 6 wood if I could get one. I want a hook biased one that hits a little lower.

blake a 7 wood is a 21-22 degree so it replaces a 3 iron, not a four (actually it will go a bit further than a 3 iron because it is longer in the shaft and has more mass in the head.)

I can highly recommend the 200 series 7 wood Moe has suggested (in my bag last 2-3 years).

4W = 1 iron
5W = 2 iron
6w = 3 iron...

I cant help it if the OEMs cant count
(ie deliberately changed traditional lofts for marketing purposes)

and besides a 21 deg 'wood' with a longer shaft is going to go a helluva lot further than a 3 irons. - scammed us again :-)

Jack,

I have a 19 degree hybrid that has replaced my 2 and 3 iron.

A 7 iron at 21-22 degrees is only a small gap from the hybrid, but I want to replace my 4 iron also.

Is there such a thing as a 9 iron? What do you suggest?
