I purposely built my irons half inch over and I choke it down by half an inch. What's the point, you may ask ... Well, I feel I get a better grip when I choke it down a bit. My hands are on the thinner part of the grip with the bigger butt end sticking out and preventing my hands from slipping. Better grip means you can hold lighter which is a good thing.
