Hi All,

Got a mate who is thinking of buying a new set of sticks. At this stage he will probably only use them for the odd social hit or driving range visit.

What do people think of the package starter sets? There seem to be quite a few online and eBay stores selling full sets + bag relatively cheap (under $500 or so). Is the quality of these ok for a beginner? Does anyone have any recommendations for set / seller (budget of probably $500, but could easily pay an extra few hundred for the right set)?

A very quick look on eBay turns up the following:

for $500 you can do a lot better than ebay

hunt around some local golf shops, find one that doesnt have the big name brand signs all over it, and ask what they have for that price.

then come back here and get a second opinion :-)
