I just made a booking with Emerald Lakes. I think it's fun to have a warm up (or cool down??) round just at the night before the champ

Time: 6pm
Holes: Play 9 only
Fee: $25

I made a booking of 2 groups (8 people).

People are in:
Kee

:?: Wouldn't a few beers at the local be a better warm-up?

A-Lo, I'm thinking that the 36 holes the day after will be enough for me.

Andylo,

I'd love to have a warmup game, but I don't think my plane lands until 6:30pm. If you want to have a little range session at Emy Lakes after your warmup round, I can join you for that. Or, if you can take following Monday off, we can play Monday morning. My flight isn't until late Monday afternoon.

I might turn up Andy, only becuase its 3 mins drive from here. and i might be able to get you a guest rate on those green fees, but i am not sure if they do that for the night rate.

It would be interesting to play golf under lights. It be interesting to see how many balls I loose.

But, it might be better to just catch up with all the OzGolfers at the coast for dinner/drinks.

There is not a lot of better places to catch up with a few mates, have dinner and drinks than at emerald lakes. Cheap good food, great dining area overlooking the 18th green under lights, and then the driving range an mini golf to entertain yourselves, both open till 10pm.

I have been to the great establishment in question and I agree it would be a good place to meet. The fact that it closes at 10pm might just be perfect ... will stop us from getting too carried away with the booze. For those who are not too keen on alcoholic beverages, there's the driving range under lights to sharpen one's swing night before the big game.

Are are any live entertainments on Saturday nights, MTB?

If others are keen, I'd be happy to make this the Sat night meeting spot.

BTW, good article on Emerald Lakes in the Golf Australia magazine (the one with Tiger hacking out of the rough on the cover).

Driving range/mini golf/night golf shut at 10, ie the lights turn off.

Not the bar. I have no idea when the bar closes, except that whatever time it is, its very dark and blurry.

apart from the choppers on the driving range, they should have some sort of live band

I can restrict my drinking, if need be. Of course that isn't the preferred option.

:?: Maxi-Taxi?

From Emy Lakes to Coolangatta is what, 30 min drive?

I can't drink too much anyway, so I'm happy to be a designated driver. I'm sure there are couple of others like me who are enzyme deficient and can't handle too much alcohol. Taxi is going to be too expensive, IMO.

Having been there, I think Emerald Lakes will be a great venue because it will cater for all tastes. You can have a chip or a putt, or hit a bucket at the range, have a few drinks, listen to live music, have a few drinks ...

It's hard to make a decision without knowing what is in the area we are staying.

I'll just follow the group.

Confirmed that there is a Piano Man playing casual tunes at Emerald Lakes between 6.30 and 9.00 pm on Saturday nights.
