My last day of holidays today, so I won't get to start a new thread for a while.

32 points at Strathfield today with Matt3jab. More details of our Match are in the matchplay section.

I played a few good holes, a few bad ones, and got about the score I deserved. Not much more to say really.

Played V Par today at Redland Bay. First time and it is a bit strange. +2, 92 off the bat, 33 Putts, missed about 4 from 4' :( 5 Fairways and 2 greens. Pretty happy except for the missed putts. No handicap drop as someone from Casino shot +9 and CCR was 70 :(

4BB yesterday at Rosebud Park. We came in with 43 points - good enough for a ball. Was very happy how I played - worked out I would have had 85 off the stick.

Then played last night with John and Roger at Rosebud Country Club. Played off the men's tees - got sick of them sooking - and still won the drinks.:smt038 by 1 stroke:wink:

Playing at The National on Monday and it's forecast for hot and windy. Better than wet and windy:mrgreen:

Shaneo
29th February 2008, 08:09 AM
nearly, i've been done to 0.8
going on recent form i'm hoping to have that down after tomorrow's comp(saturday)
i've been playing fairly well but i'm still waiting on 2 cards to come in that i'll go out 0.1 both rounds, i didin't play to well those rounds, my short game was non-existant

shaneo - are you carrying 13 clubs? maybe an extra wedge would help? or something to go between the 3 wood and 3 iron?

Shaneo
29th February 2008, 08:21 AM
i carry 14.
driver
3 wood
3 hi-brid
3-pw
54 deg, bent stronger to 52
60 deg
putter
the 3 iron is bent to a stronger loft for say a 2 iron
i'm getting a new set of irons in april, the new release titleist ZM.B
apparently i'll be one of the first in aust to have them.
when i get those i'll be doing away with the hi-brid and i'll think about adding another wedge, maybe a 56 deg

Monthly Medal today. The fairways & rough were still very boggy. It was preferred lies through the green, and bunkers were GUR due to them all being full of water.

I had my best return off the tee for a long time, hitting 10/14 fairways. GIRs were higher than average also (9/18). The biggest problem today was the short game. I had no feel or distance control with either chips or putts. 3 x 3 putts in a total of 34 putts which is my worst putting performance in some time. After avoiding double bogies all day long, I made a mess of the last hole for a triple & 84 (76). 0.1 back and one more round away from playing off 9.

Nett +4.

Possibly my worst front 9 ever at Gordon - I was 14-over after 9 and finished +16 after having +2 on the back. 4 triples in that tally including 3 in a row on 7, 8 and 9. It was Monthly and Gold medal (honour board if a MM winner from last year wins) day today, and a nett -2 won it. If only.

Monthly medal today, for exactly the same score as Courty, 84 nett 76. You always want to avoid doubles in a stroke round. I did that. Pity about the 12 bogies against only 6 pars.

Fairways = 11 of 14
Greens in Reg = 6 of 18
Putts = 35, three 3putts, zero birdies
Up&Down = 2 of 10, incl a chip in
Sand Saves = 1 of 1

Monthly Medal yesterday at Caboolture - 81/68 so 2 under hcp
Fairways - 1 of 14 (a lot just off the cut stuff, so about 8 effective out of 14)
Greens in reg - 6 of 18
Putts - 30 with one 3 putt.
Sand saves 1 from 1.
4 double bogeys, 1 birdie
Had about 7 tap ins (but 2 8m putts dropped too), so could have been anything.
Down to 12.5 from 12.8.

Good for a ball in the run down.

Swing changes not yet grooved... played in the Monthly Medal at Albury Commercial. 81 (nett 75) included 3 doubles early on, and a bunch (4 actually) hard lipouts. Short game showed signs of improvement, but I need to adjust my ranges and feel, allowing for the new technique.

1st Round Club Champs - Middle Ridge - 1/3/08
--------------------------------------
96/81
7/14 Fairways
3/18 GIR
38 Putts
2/18 U&D

First round at Middle Ridge for a while, I was off to a great start; unplayable off the first tee shot, then two holes later two OB's. My handicap was gone after 8 holes. :( My new putter (Bettinardi BC3) was good for the speed but i couldn't align it properly... me thinks it needs to be an inch shorter. I was happy I was holding the round together for the next 7 holes and then had a triple and double bogey and then regrouped with two pars to finish and break 100.

Wasn't that slow for a champs round, 4 and 1/2 hours. I'm faced with sharks everywhere i go ;) An A grader shot 66 net, B and C graders both had 64's. CCR was still 72 (par)

Course was mint.

Beacon Hills Country Club today. They've sold off a lot of the Lakes holes and are left with 27. We played the old Hills course - aptly named Old Course now.

93 gross/71 nett
36 points
7/13 fairways
38 putts ( 4 x 3 putts) and a chip in for birdie on the 10th :)

Quite happy with the day as I didn't try and blast driver off every tee. The markings were still on the fairway from the recent Pro-am, so was able to measure 2 drives over 300m (where I did try blasting  ).

There were 5 stupid shot selections though where I tried to go for gaps between trees that I shouldn't have, instead of playing a safer shot.

2nd Round Club Champs - Middle Ridge - 2/3/08
--------------------------------------
82/67
7/14 Fairways
5/18 GIR
29 Putts
8/16 U&D

What a difference 24 hours makes!! My only goal for today was to try and shoot in the low 80s or at least redeem myself from yesterdays effort. :) The driver was off today but my irons stepped up and after being uncomfortable with the BC3 yesterday i went back to my TP Mills Mizuno putter. I love this putter! I could miss putts from any range yesterday but today i was hitting way better putts and even sinking some. ;)

Grinded out a front nine, +3 with a tiger moment on the 9th (par 3). I layed up short, chipped on to about 3 metres, hit my putt which never looked like missing but sat on the side of the hole. I dropped my putter cuz i was sure I made the putt and was a little happy. Got the usual, 'oh bad luck it was a good putt', and while walking to the hole to tap it in, it fell in. Was under the same tree on the 10th off the tee as yesterday and played a shot off my knees to avoid an unplayable. Got a bit of luck, but i was bleeding a bit on the way home with stupid mistakes.

CCR was 71. Runner up on a C/B. New all time low handicap of 14.1... woohoo....

Aren't you glad you waited to play our matchplay kpac?
