Is it time for our usual organiser to book the venue and get the planning started for this? Are we going to KV again?

Would be nice to get prices and planning sorted out early again.

I thought the Champs at KV went very well so have no objection to them staying put. If we can get a similar deal to last year than sweet :smt023
There has been some talk about heading back to Tweed Heads as well so let's see what the masses agree on.

We could do Nov 1/2 and have a Halloween theme. DC can just come as himself ;)

Sorry but as a newbie here can someone explain what the champs involves?? Or is just a pretty way of saying piss up with a little golf thrown in for good measure or is there actual pride on the line here?? Would love to know more and maybe even get my ugly head there.

goughy
5th February 2008, 06:39 PM
Your head would be welcome. Probably a good start would be to go to the 2007 champs section in the first tee, and look through the old threads. Check out some of the pics.

It's really a get together with a moderate amount of piss. If you get a chance to get to on of the 1st tee games, then just multiply that experience by 100!!!

BTW, I'm pretty sure we'll be able to get Clikchic and Leah to come along again this year and take pics on one of the days again. They enjoyed doing that last year and it really made them feel part of the group.

jaybam
5th February 2008, 06:43 PM

I am all for champs at KV. Just set the friggin date the same time as last year- it worked didnt it?

just one thing..... can we use the 2nd green on the 6th as an extra hole and then get Macca to brew up something from the ingredients in his pharmaceutical cabinet and blow that abortion of an 18th hole to kingdom come.

damoocow
5th February 2008, 10:14 PM
Not sure why but a lot of the 'better' players at the last champs were critical of this hole.....for me it was played as a par 5, and I think I had a 4 and a 6 so not far off.............and you would have to agree that is a great closing green for the champs gallery.............

How about October 25th/26th???? Lets make a decision here.
I know we can't please evryone but don't make it same as last year. John, Gael, Roger and I really want to come up again but November 22nd is out and 15th is even a bit tricky.

As someone who shanks everything from lob wedge to 4 iron, I love the 18th at KV! I can hit a couple of 3 woods and take shank out of play.

All I know about the 18th, is that if I duff my drive 200mtrs I'll still go for that green, especially if there's a gallery!! :)

The hole is a bit iffy, but we know it now. And the green is awesome for finishing. October should be a bit cooler too for hanging around the green midday sunday.

I'm sure most of us don't care if KV has been cored or whatever. It's a good, cheap venue that suits our mob nicely.

The out-of-staters usually get in some extra games in SEQ while they're up anyway, so it's not the end of the world if KV isn't perfect on those dates...

Robyn and Leah (jasters wife) came along last year. Both went to the spa saturday afternoon, mooched around a bit. Leah hired a bike and went for a ride. They slept in sunday, had breaky then were able to hire a cart (they were only just allowed to have one) and took some camera's around for the day taking photo's of the groups.

Actually, something worth mentioning G69! They weren't happy in letting the girls have a cart sunday morning, but caved in. Would be good if we could have this sort of thing pre-arranged for this year so there are no problems.

goughy
6th February 2008, 05:49 PM
Originally they were told $20 for 1 hours use of a cart. They went back a little later and a different guy kind of said the same, but he wasn't really worried when it came back. But they still paid $20.

Would be worth asking if we can have one extra cart for the entirety of one of the rounds, maybe the sunday since it's the final round!

Courty
6th February 2008, 08:50 PM

when we book the deal, tell em we need an extra cart for nix our own course marshals. at 40x$150 plus they wont even blink.

Giving the girls official Marshall status is probably a good idea. They would certainly be more reliable for thing like NTP markers etc. than the guy we had last year.
