This must be the latest starting of a weekly thread so far. Thanks to Dan for posting in last weeks thread, thus giving me the honour.

My first game of the year, after a self-imposed rest to try and forget my last horrible round of golf. But it was as if I had never rested, as it was the same old frustrating rubbish for 34 points. Even par after 6, and still only 2 over after 10, but from there I couldn't get off the bogey train.

Fairways = 9 of 14
Greens in Reg = 7 of 18
Putts = 33, one birdie, one 3putt
Up&Down = 1 of 9
Sand Saves = 1 of 2

-3 in a par event at Commercial Albury. 3 nice birdies, and a whole bunch of crap.

41 pts at helensvale this morning. Felt like i was spraying them everywhere but the card told a better story - i wont complain. Putter, 54deg and driver (on the whole) were well behaved, outside of those it wasn't real pretty! Havent been on a driving range for months, i think i need it! The score was not a reflection on the quality of golf.......

Ooops. Posted todays results in the last weeks thread.

But since I'm here... ;) On Monday I'm going on a trip organised by my club. There's 50 of us jumping on a bus and going to play Sea Temple at Port Douglas. I believe there will be several large eskies on the bus that must be empty by the time we get back. 8)

Played monthly medal yesterday off the blacks. Parred the first two, then played like a handicapped non-golfer for the remaining 16 holes. 82 nett. Worst round in ages. Bit concerned about how many golf balls I'm gonna lose at Magenta Shores next Saturday now.

The only positive I can take out of the game was that I made a couple of green-side sand saves, which at Brookwater, is good going. Every other aspect of my game was shit.

27/01/2008, Nambour GC, John Armstong Memorial (Shotgun Stableford)

9/12 effective tee-shots.
8/18 effective approaches.
4/12 up and down successes.
31 putts.
----------
2 birdies.
6 pars.
10 bogeys.

Score 35-41-76 stab 38pts (Par 34-34-68 ACR 66).

I started on the 3rd hole, which I meant I was facing indexes 5, 3 and 1 in my first three holes. I'll take birdie, par, bogey on those three any time. Stayed even par for a few more holes before the leaking of shots started. A late fightback kept the score in the positive and was enough to get a ball in the rundown.

The driving was mostly good (preferred lies helped). I'm still hitting irons right, sometimes a long way, although there was the occasional good one. My chipping and putting were a little disappointing overall, however those greens are quite frustrating to try and hold.

In hindsight, it's a fairly solid round, but it had a bit of a "what could have been" feel to it.

Next round: Tomorrow at Headland or Mt Coolum hopefully.

Well, played mac grange today

FW's: 4 - but hit the driver solid so meh

GIR: 11/18 - hit the irons ok but should have hit more greens from where i was really, swing fell apart a bit at the end, prob due to lack of practice

Putts: The usual crap putting, 35 putts

Ended up shooting 76 +6, for a net 69.

Another good round wasted due to shit flatblade

Late post, but played Reddy last Wednesday, had 35 points. Played ok, nothing special, only had 14 points on the front but came home with 21 points.

Played Friday at Nudgee with the old man, had 37 points with a wash on the first. Didn't play particularly well on the front with 16 points, but came home with a 2 over 21 points with 2 balls in the water!! Putted brilliantly, with only 24 putts for the day, 10putts on the back nine finishing off with 2 putts on my last 4 holes.

I ventured down to the Tweed again and played the West course.
How much is that setting you back? And is it an all day comp?

It's a joke Joyce. I don't give a rats arse where we play, as long as I don't lose my car keys again.

29/01/2008, Tanawha Valley Par 3, Hit with Mitchell.

I played two balls from the tee for the 9 holes, so the stats are combined.

4/18 effective approaches.
Score 67 (+13).

I'm still very ordinary at hitting irons, which makes playing a par 3 course rather difficult. The main miss is the big push right, and I'll throw in a couple of straight ones or pulls to keep me guessing.
2 of the 4 greens hit were on the shortest hole (104m), and another was with the 3 wood.

I don't really know how I scored 38pts the other day hitting irons as badly as I have been.

Next round: 3/2, Wynnum Cup.

I feel your pain AP... my irons are normally pretty solid (7-10 GIR / round) but last 3 rounds have all been 5 or less  ... it's a combination of poor drives and pressure on me when in the middle of the fairway as I'm not there too foten atm... surprisingly the short game has improved markedly (no 3 putts for my last 35 holes and some decent chips too).

Last 4 rounds 37pts, 37pts, 29pts, -5 (par game)

finished -1 playing par, hit the ball tee to green really well. I hit 11 greens in regulation and just struggled a little with the putter, hence the posting for a trade.
