Just my opinion of course, but I was an avid user of component clubs many moons ago. Personally, I would look second hand premium. He would easily get a good set of clubs a generation or 2 old for what they would cost. Of course if he wants to buy new only, then they are as good a price as I spose he'll get.

Strictly my opinion. There will be different ones coming.

Used the link button and it did it. Second link is direct typed in and works so maybe you have a bug in the link button.

When I said new, many may not have seen it, it is only just over 12 months old.

any component company who's main line's seem to be OEM rip-off's I generally steer clear of.

A mate is thinking of getting a set.

Tell your mate that if he is interested in component clubs to make his purchase decision on the clubmakers skills/reputation not on the clubheads that they sell.

The good clubmakers dont advertise the clubs.

Wishon/Miura/Nakashima/Raven/Piranha - quality components at differing ends of the price spectrum

As blake said, a quality clubfitter with a number of different brands is the way to go...

I also agree with toolish, club heads that are direct copies of OEM gear is not great, much prefer component companies with their own technology ideas.

Er, not quite. Their website says:

Lind Golf Clubs are not to be confused with the big brands they may seek to compete with, but are made from essentially the same materials and design principles, use many of the same shaft and grip suppliers, and according to in house tests, perform similarly to or sometimes better than the big brand alternatives.

There may be an element of truth to that golf club manufacturing myth.

Most club manufacturers do not make clubs from scratch, the original foundry work is done by another mob.

there was a time (a decade or so ago) , that nearly all leading brands (and others) clubheads were initially formed at a foundry north of Melbourne - Bendigo-ish i think, and was recognised as the leading mob in the world for their work.

The raw product which barely looked like a clubhead would then be shipped to whatever overseas location the brand is based for manufacture. Dunno whether they still do this, but 'Publish' from the southern forums knows them very well.

Most clubs travelled 3 or 4 countries by the time they reached the retail shelf.

Thus it could be stated, that so and so clubs came from the same foundry as the leading brands.

A mate bought clubs from Lind Golf and is very pleased with them. I was going to also, though ended up going to "Alternative Golf Australia" as they offered a greater range in graphite shafts. I'm very pleased with my purchase also. On-line components, as far as I'm concerned, are a serious alternate to OEM irons if you know what you're after i.e. head material, shaft flex & length, lie, swingweight etc

Just a few words on my perspective as an owner of a set of Lind Blades.

I am on my second set of Lind Blades and I can honestly say that I haven't had a problem with any facet of owning and playing with them.
Service and delivery of my irons was quick and simple, I haven't had to make any returns on my purchases at all. As for using them out on the courses that I have played, they are an excellently priced, balanced and correctly weighted set or irons. As for the online fitting of the irons its not that hard. A bit of thought and some simple math and you can figure out what would be comfortable for you otherwise call the manufacturer and ask if they have a similar length as your current irons + or - the measure ment that would make your old irons the length the you would want them to be. Simple.

Thanks

Why are you on your second set? Do they wear out quickly? They haven't been around too long have they? They shouldn't be wearing out yet.

Thanks for the heads up!!!

I am just getting into golf seriously and need basically everything, bag, irons, drivers etc..and was seriously considering Lind Golf. Could get everything for about 1300.00 aus. Went to my local pro shop and hit some brand name demos, liked the Cleveland CG Golds S shaft the best. Lind has no demo days in Perth so cant try them out beforehand. I was looking at the sniper pros from lind and the taylor made clone drivers. How do the clones stack up against the cleveland set ...i want something i will be happy with for a few years. Any help is appreciated

For $1300 you could get much better equipment second hand. If you're just starting out you'd be better off getting $600 clubs and getting $700 lessons.

Just haunt the pro-shop here. You should be able to pickup:

Driver:$100-ish
3w/4w: $80-ish
irons: $200-250
wedges: $100
putter: $100

Spend the rest on lessons.

If this is Springfield then I guess ISG must be Shelbyville because I have noticed that clones are more readily accepted at ISG! Playing Lind clubs at the moment and they are fine for the price (ducks for cover:oops:) but will be moving on to brands or better components soon... after some lessons & words of wisdom from my local PGA pro ;)

Sure to be a brand ho soon enough - wish I had $1300 to spend!! That could get you a mighty fine set from the Ozgolf Pro Shop & you would have enough left over to get them fitted and take a few lessons.

And I'm sure that has absolutely nothing to do with them being a sponsor. ISG is, afterall, well known for its objectivity and impartiality when it comes to critical forum posts.

I bought a set of the sniper pros late last year, 1 trip to the range and I thought they were a pretty good set. However 2nd game in I went to use my pitching wedge swung the club and the club head detached itself from the shaft and both the head and ball ended up in the middle of the dam. Lind replaced the club without the head so there warranty is good, however the story does not end there.

Next game I was about to use my sand wedge, pulled it out of the bag, placed it on the ground, heard a crackling sound and looked down and I was just holding the shaft with the club head lying on the ground. once again I am ringing and writing to Brad Lind and once again I got a club replaced.

I have now given the clubs to my son and taken up my old ones. I may have received a dodgy set of shafts and I have no confidence at all in the clubs. However I do have a lind hybrid of which I am very pleased with.

This is my personal experience with Lind Golf.

Do yourself a favour and buy some clubs from the guys in here.

Cheers

If you developed your own designs instead of copying other manufacturers then Lind might have some credibility.

Thanks guys. I have decided to go for a proper fitting at my local pro shop and then look around for the best prices. Its all abit confusing at the moment with all the variables , hopefully the fitting will narrow it down to a few choices. I have heard that Tiger could win with a cheap set of clubs, its more the skill than the equipment!

I don't think even tiger could win if the heads of both his pitching and sand wedges came flying off.

Just ordered a set of Wilson Staff Ci7's from my local pro shop. Got a fitting and they will be adjusted 2 degrees up and 1/2 inch longer. Only problem now is i have no excuses for hitting a bad shot! I was thinking of getting the Lind bag (charcoal) and M330 Bag Boy cart. I like the look of it, does anyone have one of these or know the quality? I want a bag with separate compartments for each club & most i've seen are $250ish

I am thinking of going into the business of designing golf clubs and having them made in a factory with my staff having a shotgun to their head with a monthly wage of 2 rice bags and 3 crab claws and then silencing them with a contract that if they talk about things, they will miss out on their 2 bags of rice and not so sweet and sour fish-heads or claws. Hmm, just got an email from a PR company via my website wanting me to do a write up on Lind. The guys opening statement:

I wanted to pass over some information regarding Lind Golf - a new online offering which specialises in making personalised and customised golf clubs.
Note - emphasis is mine.

New????

Wonder if I could get some clubs from them to "demo"

The_Rage

I think it's the site that is new. In fact, I know it is.

I looked at Lind after the great reviews on iseekgolf and after ordering a club on the runout they had (I'm guesing to get rid of stuff before the new site/stock) I was still waiting for it 2+ weeks later. I have, however, emailed them today (and posted over on ISG) and was sent one of their signature wedges ($15 on runout vs. $99 retail) express post instead. If their clubs are half as good as their customer service, I'll be going back. And no, I'm not a Lind employee dressed as a poster, I'm just very happy with the way I've been treated.
