Well played scarfie.!!

So it wasn't you looking for your ball in the trees... its was the choppers you were playing with ;)

I also played at Burleigh today for a lovely 0.1 back to my hcp.

36 pts around a rather pleasant Burleigh layout.

Made birdie for a 5 pointer on the 13th and had to drop the handbrake very hard. Screeched right into the buffer zone with some ordinary finishes.

Bruce, nice work to make birdie on a bastard of a green. I hate that hole so much. My goal for 2007 is to have a two putt there.

Really? It didn't seem too hard if you were coming on from the left hand side to get it in the right spot.

Had one of those days today where the swing came together really well. Our course is down to a par 69 at the moment due to redevelopment of a par 4 and 5 which has them replaced by 2 par 3's, I still managed my best ever round at this course against par, a 4 over 73 for 43pts (even though it was stableford everything was putted out).

At the last minute the Hibore XL was replaced by the 905R to make things even more interesting. I was solid but not spectacular off the tee however couldn't miss with my irons, so much so that I only missed 4 greens with full shots all day and got up and down from 3 of them.

43pts (73 gross, 62 nett)
7/12 fairways
11/18 GIR
33 putts (2 x 3 putts)
3/4 U&D
0/1 sandies
3 birds
9 pars
5 bogies
1 double

This should see a 1.0-1.4 handicap drop and back down to 10 and fingers crossed a win in A Grade.

Hopefully I can take my ball striking from this round to NSW on Tuesday.

Nice shooting, mz.

-------------------------
24/11/2007, Nambour GC, Stableford

6/12 effective tee-shots.
4/18 effective approaches.
6/11 up and down successes.
30 putts.
---------
1 birdie.
7 pars.
8 bogeys.
2 others. (I figure I'm off a handicap now where doubles should be others, in other words, undesirable).

Score 39-40-79 stab 34 (Par 34-34-68 CCR 68)

It was meant to be a 4B, so I was going to try this new ball and give the Pings a good trial, but due to rain last night they changed it to single stableford, so I took it a little more seriously.

Today was a bit disappointing in that I didn't take my scoring chances when they came up. I didn't play particulary well (I actually thought my score would be worse), but I wasn't overly bad either.

I hit a couple of nice shots with the Pings today, but there were a few crappy ones in there too. I was hoping the short game would perform like it did last Sunday, and save me more, but it was a little inconsistent instead.

Oh well, +0.1 and back out to 10. :( Single figures was a blast, while it lasted.

Next round: 2/12, OZgolf Brooky BBQ & Bash

No win, one of the kids off 6 had 46 points , I still came second though and down to a new low of 9.6.

Par comp at Mirboo North.

+2 - my short game makes me cry.

I missed 1 fairway with the driver yesterday and was hitting the big stick really well. And then taking 4 or 5 more shots to finish out the hole.

Gunna go down to the practice fairway this morning to see if I can turn things around and be merely bad inside 100m.

Yesterday was first game in about a month. Played at East Geelong, really happy to be 2 over with 3 to play and finished triple, bogey, bogey...triple was a massive mind fart which I am blaming on rustiness!

You should be encouraged that I noticed, it shows that at least one person cared to read it.

An encouraging day today, because I hit the ball quite well in my 37 points. Two stupid double bogeys prevented me recording a better score.

Fairways = 7 of 14
Greens in reg = 11 of 18, some nice middle irons
Putts = 33, 1 birdie, 1 3putt
Up & Down = 3 of 6
Sand Saves = 0 of 1.

I chopped it around on Saturday at Brooky with poidda. Rain + black tees + stroke round made for a tough day out, but managed an 84 for 76 nett. Funny sort of a round in that I made 3 or 4 birdies and missed another few short birdie putts, but also made 3 doubles and a triple. Almost did an "Eag's" on the 5th, then missed the bird from a couple of feet.

markTHEblake
26th November 2007, 07:12 AM
How could you miss a bird from a couple of feet after a shank?

peter_rs

Sat Played Virginia. 36 points could have been so much more... no washes but 44 putts. The greens were just avg for virginia very grainie and roughed up, I could not get the speed at all. 8 3 putt bogies. It was the worse putting effort in a long time.

Sunday Nudgee South. Green were in good condition and some new pins.
first time I have used prov (champs prize) and my spin on chips was bugging me, by the end of the round I was happy to fly the ball at the hole and trust it would stop. I lost 2 balls. But it was nice to play stroke I came home with a 3 over back nine for a nett 70 :).

Tired a G10 9* with the pro launch red. Had that combo in a g5 and have the shaft in my mx500. The driver was nice but launched about as high as the 10.5* MX which is balloning into wind.

44 putts, thats gotta be close to a record for a real golfer, add to that an average for your hcap is about 34-35 points thats a pretty good tee to green game for you.

Played wynnum trainee pro am yesterday for 36 points.
Stats were worrying,

12 Effective tee shots
but only
2 GIR <- driving me stupid!

but my best round of recorded putts,
25 Putts - given the greens aren't tough or overly quick but still pretty handy i though, i had 8, 1 putts in the first 9 holes.

Check some of my stats, kpac. It won't be overly different to the above. Putting the first shot in the right place, spraying the approach.

Gametrack in the last 6 months has me at 60% effective tee shots, but around 30% greens. Quite often I'll only hit 2 or 3 greens though.

Nice score saving with the short game.

27th November 2007, 03:22 PM
yeah couldn't get the pings to fire straight, was only their first/second outing, so i'll need to do a bit of range time by the looks of things. Had a new wedge to try out so i didn't complain too much ;)

kpac
27th November 2007, 03:24 PM
oh and i have to do something about my bag settup, it's going stupid. 5 wedges/ 3 woods / 1 hybrid / Putter - only leaves me space for 4 irons.... got away with it a wynnum but i could imagine i might find that a little tough at other tracks.

BrisVegas
27th November 2007, 03:28 PM
5 wedges???

kpac
27th November 2007, 03:33 PM
50, 54, 56, 60, 64. i trust the 60 and 56, and had to try the 54 and 64, and felt the need for a gap wedge.
That's what i'm saying i have to figure out which ones are in and which are out. AND have to stay away from the pro shop!

PeteyD
27th November 2007, 03:59 PM
Get a 68 and a 73 kpac

kpac
27th November 2007, 04:11 PM
i hit the 64 really well yesterday, but got a little overconfident and used it where i probably shouldn't have and stuffed it up, needless to say it isn't very forgiving
so no higher lofts for me thanks.

PeteyD
27th November 2007, 04:18 PM
so the 64 is replacing the 60? Addam has got me hitting most chips with my 60 at the moment.

kpac
27th November 2007, 04:26 PM
nope i'm thinking currently, 54deg/60deg/64deg - I'm going to try that for a while, a few reasons, 54 is close to a gap wedge and i hit it pretty well, 60 i'm very happy to hit and use it out of the bunkers all the time (but grooves are dead and spin is thus minimal) 64deg spins like crazy, and i can put a decent angle on the downswing to get a 'normal' flight for certain shots.
Admittedly i should alternate between the 54 and 60 for most situations, but in some instances i can see use for the 64.
This is my current thought pattern, we shall see how long it lasts. Keep buying wedges when all i need is a hybrid, very annoying!

76 nett was good enough to sneak a win in my Corporate Partner Club Champs. Only 20 or so players, so no big deal. But, it's my first Honour Board win!

Snagged a dozen HX Tours, nice shirt, towel, monogrammed hat and nice trophy. Also jagged a sleeve of B330S's for the NTP on the 5th. :D

Nice work Dion.

I had a crap round in my Monthly Medal today. I had to see a physio during the week and after all the ailments I've had this year, I am told I now have a bone spur in my right ankle. Ffs. So anyway, I wasn't striking the ball too badly considering, but my misses were terrible. I had 2 holes where I hit it into a hazard twice (not the same hazard either). But my partner & I somehow still did enough to win all the money, so at least the drinks were free. :D

Well done Dion. You're playing some solid golf. I think you're a shoe in for Most Improved!!

Medal Day. Persistant light rain for 4.5 hours ended up pissing me off. Got relatively heavy at times, but the problem was balancing bag, buggy, umbrella... ah bugger it, I'm wet now. Last 6 holes struggled to keep hands and grips dry.

Was 2 up thru 10, ended 4 down. The constant annoying drizzle was too much. Completely rooted the index 18, 17 and 16 holes.
