Well I went in with very low expectations as the burden of 3 children under 3 has had a dramatic impact on my golfing ability over the last couple of years.

The good news is that I actually played quite well.

Shot 71 in the first round, nothing special 2 birdies 1 bogey
Shot 76 in the second, got on the bogey train on the back nine.
Shot 71 in the third round, again nothing special 3 birdies, 2 bogeys
Shot 71 in the fourth, that where the story gets interesting
Total 289 (9 over) very average total.

Went into the final round 4 shots of the pace and in the second last group, not a bad place to come from as anything can happen at Wynnum when the wind blows and the greens get quick.

Made the perfect start, Par, Eagle, Birdie - all of a sudden I am only one back :D . Steady through the front nine and turn 2 under.

Driver on 10 to 20 feet, leave the eagle putt short in the heart. 3 under leading by 2. The disaster strikes. Tripple on 11, I can't relive this again, all I can say is it was bad :( . Back to one behind

I then hung on the best I could made an ugly bogey  on 16 too shot 71.

The bad news is it was one too many, but I was very happy all the same.

It was nice to show signs that I can still play.

Well done, stoney. Where did you end up finishing? Outright 2nd?
It's good to see you are not killing yourself over that triple, as well. 8)

If you don't want too much attention, you could PM clikchic, and get her to move the post into one of the score threads.

Yes I finished outright 2nd, not a bad draw for the match play.

Was going for my 5th stroke play title after winning in 1994, 2000, 2001 & 2002.

Never beat yourself up over a bad hole, just be happy that you have the chance to play the game we love.

Be good all

shouldn't 289 be 1 over?

I assume it's a 'Par 70' course, Trung.

:)

Kind regards,

Ben (Ducky).

Ducky...

2 birdies + 1 bogey for a 71 = Par 72
3 birdies + 2 bogeys for a 71 = Par 72

Thats what I think, could be wrong also

I would go by the round totals, Trung. I can see the confusion though.

Stoney?

Kind regards,

Ben (Ducky).

Twins blakey. Twins.

Sorry to hear you got pipped for the champs Pete. Still, you gotta be happy to even contend considering you have hardly played or practiced this year. =D>

The poor bugger you beat 3 times prior is probably not feeling too sorry for you though, now that he's finally got up for a win! ](*,)
