View Full Version : Friday pre-champs warmup - 11:42, 11:51, 12:09, 12:18 at Brookwater

BrisVegas
5th September 2007, 11:32 AM
Per the discussion in http://ozgolf.net/forums/showthread.php?t=6697 looking to see who's interested in a warmup game prior to the champs.

I've booked 11:42, 11:51, 12:09 & 12:18 at this stage.

There's a corporate day off before us til 11:30. There is a group of people in at 12:00, but I'll try and get them to go off before our 4 groups. I'm sure they'd prefer it that way too!

It's $80 including carts for my guests.

EDIT - results...

1. poidda 40 points
2. BrisVegas 35
3. nuttedit 34
4. agave 31
4. billyman

Brookwater would more than likely be out for me as I would have to go back to the Gold Coast to pick Rachelle up to drive out to KV.

Bruce
17th September 2007, 09:41 AM
So are we looking for a morning or afternoon time here?

If we did morning that would give us time to dawdle out to KV in the arvo and start the beers there on Friday night.

BrisVegas
17th September 2007, 10:34 AM
mid-morning?

Tez - are you wanting to play this?

BrisVegas
17th September 2007, 10:43 AM
geez - you gotta be quick around here... I rang Brookwater to suss out the times and there is a group booking all morning til 11:30am on Friday 16th Nov.

I grabbed 2 groups at 11:42 & 11:51 so we have that as an option as there's only a few of us expressed interest so far.

If anyone else wants in, please speak up ASAP so I can grab more spots.

Grunt
17th September 2007, 11:50 AM
Am keen but not sure if I can make it as I will have to drive back to Elanora to pick Rachelle up afterwards to drive out to KV.

BrisVegas

no probs grunt. I'm sure there'll be other games at either the Gold coast or kooralbyn on the Friday too.

I just started this thread for those that wanted to play Brookwater, to try and keep it simple....

Grunt

BV, I stuffed up thinking I had booked for Friday night too. After some thought I am pretty sure I have only booked for one night. Might have to give KV a ring and confirm my booking as I never received any receipt from them.

What would the cost be?

Any interest in shifting the "traditional" Brooky BBQ to after the game this Friday? There's 16 starters this Friday and only 5 signed up for 2nd Dec... The more the merrier they say.

We could have a suasage sizzle and a couple of quiet drinks from 5pm...

Courty & CoffsHacker are staying here anyway and we're pretty much on the way for anyone heading to Kooralbyn Friday night. Everyone is welcome, not just those playing Brookwater Friday arvo.

What do youse all think?????

Would not be too bad an idea Dion but I have to drive back to the GC for Friday night. If I leave too late I will get caught in the traffic on the M1 won't I?

BrisVegas
11th November 2007, 03:32 PM
the traffic on the M1 is usually closer to town than where the Logan Motorway joins up. It's a 4-lane freeway and copes pretty well once beyond the Gateway Motorway merge.

there'll be an open comp available on the day for another $7.50. It's usually a single stableford, off the gold tees.

I'd suggest we just play it as a single stab and those that want to go in the comp can do so.

aren't the greens at Carins bermuda? the grainest greens around?

They're called 328 Tiff or something. Is that a type Bermuda? In any case, I've never looked at which way the grass is growing/ pointing, and I've never had a problem putting on them.

There is Bermuda 328, and then there is Tiff Dwarf, a completely unrelated grass, its a really thin bladed grass and I dont think it has grain.

I havent heard of anywhere using Tiff Dwarf for a couple of decades, which is about when Bermuda 328 became the flavour in northern climates.
