Anyone have a facebook profile?

Not me, My sister asked me if I was interested. Is it the same as MySpace? I have MySpace but I forget to update it.

Bruce

I'm there.

Moe Norman
4th September 2007, 10:11 AM
I signed up the other day as a last resort trying to get in touch with an old mate.

Found him in abuot 20 seconds, now every old dickhead I've ever met is coming out of the woodwork...!

I've disabled all the options so I don't get e-mails everytime someone puts in a 'friend' request and other assorted crap. I just check it once a week and its reasonably useful.

it's fantastic for me being someone that has changed continents. it is much more convenient and easier to stay in touch with people than email, as you can get away with only writing a couple lines and not appearing rude. it has some fun little side options (also some useless ones too, that you just don't install). it is more of a communications tool than myspace, in my opinion.

i avoided for ages until the wife signed me up, and now i love it. i am in touch with people i haven't talked to in 15 years.

poidda
4th September 2007, 11:05 AM
Yeah I'm there. The basics are great. I find it very useful to letting mates know what I am up to, but cant be arsed sending emails. Actually come to think of it, I have been got around to updating this either.

But like Moe, jump on once a week or so and check out what people are up to.

We've had so many people leave here in the last 3 months Facebook has become the tool of choice for keeping up with where everyone went.

I can't remember a Friday in the last 3 months that hasn't had someone's farewell drinks.

Moe Norman

is it impolite to ignore friend requests from dickheads you went to high school with, that by all reports, are still dickheads?

dc68

Were you rude to them at school? If so I can't see any reason to change.

Moe Norman

I just read this thread! I don't know how to use msn. Years ago I think rob listed me on schoolfriends or something! Some guy who I hated in school (probably used to beat me up or something) messaged me (email or something) with a 'how ya going/remember me/what ya up to/I'm a labourer on a farm and have like 8 kids to 3 different chicks' kind of thing. I never responded.

And I'm afraid I won't be on facebook either! I don't know where you guys find the time to keep up with all this! I have ozg and brighthand and pretty much no time for anything else! Of course, I have no access at work, I just have to do actual work ;)

Moral dilemma: the ex-wife attempted to friend me up on Facebook last night. I didn't really like the bitch that much when I was married to her, but on the other hand she is a major pain in the arse (especially when drunk) and knocking her back might mean that she will continue to annoy the shit out of me in the future.

What is the protocol for this? At least my phone number isn't listed on there.

Yossarian

Just leave it sitting there for a few months, not denying or confirming. Also bump your privacy settings right up so she can't see any activity occuring on your account. She will assume you don't check facebook often.

Or deny the request and block her.

You don't need facebook to find phone numbers...

accept the request then, post lots of romantic pictures and posts to show how happy you and the missus are. She will soon get sick of looking.

Block Farmville, block horoscopes, block mafia wars.

Use facebook to stir up SMS and various others, and keep in contact with family across the country and overseas. You only need to put family/kids photos up in one place and anyone who wants to see them can.

I've reconnected with a cousin who I had not seen since I was about 15, and through Facebook I'd be more likely to attend a family reunion interstate to catch up with these people in real life, now I know more about them.

sms - I would have ignored her friend request for a for a week, maybe friended her if you felt like it, but then put her on ignore so she did not pop up in my daily feed. If she shat me off quickly, she would have been given the flick within days.
