I'll have the Crownies with me and shall properly place them in the fridgerater when I get to the resort (and fight the temptation to down them)..

PS. Winner of the Carton must deliver at least 1 to me for delivery charge !

Fine by me. I actually wouldn't mind winning it back, it's a good hat and you can't buy them in Australia.

I sure as hell appreciate the generous donations for prizes but last years prizegiving ceremony was a bit of a debacle. We gave out about 3000 prizes.
AP please categorize the winners list so we can match this stuff up.
Agreed however with the cold piss being distributed on the Saturday arvo.
jarro did it last year, and I won't be doing it. I think the prizes got stuffed up because we didn't have any NTPs or long drives on the Sunday at Bribie like we were meant to.

13th September 2007, 03:24 PM
Well get a responsible person in the 1st group to put em out and a responsilbe person in the last to pick em up.

Obviously this rules me out of such duties.

Don't really see a problem with it at all MTB, would be no different for someone to sell a prize after the champs would it? If not better form just to give it away the next year.

possibly, but i've got to lay down the challenge, not point putting it on the line on an easier hole, the 18th is a toughy and i've twice witnessed ozgolfer(/s?) on the green in 2....

It's a fine line, but I'd say that if something was donated back the following year its a snub to the person that originally donated it.

you can see the fairway on 13. 12 no one would know where it is. 10 is dumb. 11 - don;t think they want the marker on the green ...

I wouldn't mind, but I'm gonna have my hands full with my wife and kids over the weekend. sorry.

Maybe just lay all the prizes out and let the winner's choose what they like from what's available. Then all you need to do i establish the order of importance of prizes...

Top suggestion!! even less chance of returns that way!!, i recon put up an order of importance for the different prizes would be a top idea, a lot less organising and choose you own prize adds a bit of zing.

Nah good drives on 3 would go around the corner. 4 would be possible I guess, but 13 is well into the round.
13 is perfect pete you know it. For us short hitters it adds the luck of the path if you can find it ;) plus the big hitters are no guarantee to stay on the f'way if they kickright. Lucky but fair hole (also it's a par5 - makes sence)

the suggestion of 11 is a bit abitious, it'll end up on the next tee!!

have we ever wondered what we would do in the case of a tie (for 1st) in either gross or nett

A playoff woudl be fun, and given the course and time of day, it would probably suit, In any case i think our fee includes unlimited golf doesnt it?

Peteyd, Gross stableford is a piece of piss to work out, just stipulate to everyone that if you wanna have your score listed in the gross, to score it as well. If they dont wanna, they dont have to

BrisVegas
29th October 2007, 03:57 PM
gross = stroke equivalent based on stableford score.

But a wipe means you NCR?

markTHEblake
29th October 2007, 03:59 PM
No, a wipe means yuo got 0 points on that hole. No different really

ifyou think about it, if i had 40 points off 4hcap, i probably had 36pts off the stick, kapeche' ?

PeteyD
29th October 2007, 04:00 PM
ok I'll do what I did last year for the PH round. Seemed to work fine. I imagine those in line for gross figures will be shooting high 70's at worst anyway.

PeteyD

We have to work with Stableford scoring, so you survive that but no chance of being in running if you do it ;)

You scored 0 points on the hole, both gross and nett.

Oh so we do a stab score based on no handicap to get gross scores? Simple!

yeah, what else were you thinkin ? :-)

as i said, for the blokes likely to win this, it will take em about 5 seconds to annotate their scorecard with the gross points at the end of the round.

In other words, dont have to explain this to anyone :)

36 points off a 10 handicap will most likely be 26 points gross (but not necessarily, he might have wiped some holes where he had strokes)

? why

Because you don't announce the big winners first, you build it up with the little stuff then have the big ones at the end. They winner never stands on the podium first!

But if you let people pick their prizes you'd have to do the bigger winners first as you would think they would get the better prizes!

FFS, I'm sick of trophy/medal dramas. There's always some little cockup.

This year the medals have been engraved wrong.....all of them.
OZ.golf.net instead of OZgolf.net.

The engraving isn't actually on the medal, but on a little metallic sticker that goes on the medal.

So do I contact them and get them to do it again (meaning I'll have to go back tomorrow) or am I being too pedantic? It is the name of our site after all.

Be Pedantic, nothing worse than having a trophy with a cockup on it.

I'm heading back there tomorrow. I would have thought that if you were doing engraving, attention to detail would be need to be high on the skills list.

I actually took the trophy back once because gaz golf was separated into two words.

Medals fixed.
Hats and shirts arrived and they look great.
Yeehaa!

BV, there isn't a hat available for the gross winner now. But there is an OZgolf shirt.

peter_rs, you need to remember to bring the golden club to handover to Dion after he cleans up this weekend.

Moe - how far are you from Tez's? Maybe he could swing by and collect it in the morning?

BV, I have exactly 1 dozen of the Vision Xpert2 golf balls left over, and about 4 packets of tees.

If you have trouble putting these somewhere, I will reserve these for another Ozgolf day for those who missed out (except for Jono and Mikezone who made a special request)
