Yep, have been for ages and think it's great.

Unfortunately a couple of applications still open IE when clicking on a link (PartyPoker for example), which is annoying.

Use ie7 and firefox. Depending on mood.

Have been use Firefox for about 18 months. It had been good, but been getting some reliability problem with the latest version Firefox. It tend to hang if there are a lot of Tabs open.

I tried IE 7 recently, but I find Firefox much more responsive.

I have it, only use it when i log into the same website with different usernames. easier then logging in and out.

IMHO its overrated, and rides high on the back anti MS sentiment. The perceived advantages seem to be only in the minds of its fans :-) - placebo effect.

I use firefox due to habit, but now that IE have joined the 21st century and have tabbed browsing and customised bookmarks, I'm not fussed either way.

In fact the tabbed browing in IE7 is actually a litte better.

Firefox, and i love it, tabbed browsing is really good!

I think firefox took off on the back of it's tabbed browsing ability back when ie wasn't even thinking about it. Now that ie has tabs maybe it's not so different.

I'll ride ont he back of the anti ms sentiment - only use firefox. If not firefox I'd probably try safari before going back to ie.

Does IE do plugins for extra functionality yet?

Disgusting ! I can't believe anyone would do such a thing as have more than one usename. ;)

Firefox and Thunderbird for me. Definately riding on anti MS. Using Linux as well. In a world without walls and fences, who needs windows and gates!

Firefox for me, but that was mainly because I was having troubles with IE at work (when wasting time on ozgolf) through proxies etc. I couldn't figure out how to change the settings. I tried Firefox and it just worked so I stuck with. I like the tabbed browsing, but now IE has that, so not much functional difference. Firefox is still working fine, so I'll stick with it.

Seems to run better on our computer than IE did ...... so we're very happy :)

Firefox here because Ozgolf doesn't work with IE on my machine, it hangs my machine when trying to access posts........I figured MS was anti Ozgolf so I dumped them.

AndyP

You didn't consider giving up OZgolf instead?

I'm sure we've all considered that at some stage

I use the above Add-on "Adblock Plus" combined with No Script (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722). No script is great but it takes a while to "train" it as to what content is acceptable on what sites. Once you have done that it is awesome..

IE has nothing on FF.

Anyone else having problems recently with Firefox. Seems to be getting very slow, back to playing with Google Chrome.

Firefox was lagging for me, so I tried Safari 5. It had a massive persistent memory leak, so i ditched that too and am now trialling Google Chrome. All good so far, very light & quick. The only complaint I would have is the lack of options, especially in how the tabs & links work.

Type " speed up firefox" into your browser and follow the instructions. Same applies for "Open Office."

I'll do this on the Mac's at work too, i have been getting everyone to use Neo Office, so it would be much the same.

I take it you haven't given up on the U?

I can't find the thread where we recently discussed how clunky Firefox had become. I stumbled across Waterfox, which is the 64bit version. Downloaded it and it so far it is working a treat. It seems to be a seamless install. All my Firefox bookmarks and settings were automatically picked up.

I used Firefox for years and years (since about version 2 I think) but switched to Chrome some 6 months or so ago. I find it faster to load initially and it stands up to the way I use it much better. Often I have way too many tabs open.. sometimes 100+, yeah I know right? Should close 'em once in a while. Anyway Firefox just leaks memory like crazy and hangs and becomes unresponsive all the time under that sort of workload, Chrome handles it far far better - it still has some issues occasionally but they're like chalk and cheese.

maybe after using it for so long there are so many plugins and add ons that are slowing it down?
I have been using FF for 6-7 years now - no problem
(but then again I dont use it on Windows or a Mac either)

I don't tend to install many plugins (Firebug maybe, and one or two others) - none that cause an issue - it was an issue when I switched to Pale Moon as well and never installed a single plugin. It just doesn't manage memory well.

There are lots of things that Linux does better!

markTHEblake

I suggested plugins because mmost people don't know they exist!

I don't really understand how a particular application can get slower. They don't wear out.

Memory leaks. That's what happens with Firefox... it just starts using more and more memory until the system starts paging it out and the application becomes unresponsive.

Looove Chrome. Haven't tried Firefox for ages after I got sick of the memory leaks, moved to Chrome and hardly ever have a problem.
