This is getting common place. 90/68 around reddy today for 40 points. Gonna go to a new low handicrap now. 1 birdie, 4 pars, 10 bogies a double and 2 triples. 30 Putts and there were 4 I should of put in that missed :(. Driver behaved itself today so hopefully it will go ok tomorow.

Troppo is playing a 4 dayer in Hervey Bay/Maryborough this weekend, and that includes friday, so I am not so sure about your pro-am.
(no, i didnt check - I know this because my mate left today to go play in it)

I think your boss is trying to get rid of you for a day.

First game in 8 weeks (social hit only, but holed out on all holes) yesterday due to fractured wrist. Was a bit hesitant on a few shots but overall was reasonably happy with my ball striking.

85 gross (+13)
75 nett
35 putts :(
9/18 GIR
3/14 fairways :(
2 birds
6 pars
5 bogies
5 doubles

09/08/2007, Kooralbyn Copperhead, Stroke

9/14 effective tee-shots.
6/18 effective approaches.
13 shots penalised!!
38 putts.
-----------
6 pars.
7 bogeys.
0 doubles.
5 others.
First 14 holes score: 69 nett 62 [+5] (par 57)
Last 4 holes score: 34 nett 30 [+15] (par 15)
Score: 45-58-103 nett 92 (Par 37-35-72 ACR 75)

I was hitting the ball okay yesterday, although the occasional pulled or hooked drive is concerning. Unfortunately I ruined it all by having a bad hole on the 15th, then playing the remaining holes/shots stupid. I really should have played safer, but my mental game went walkabout.

I'm surprised by the number of putts I had. I felt I was putting better than that, as I was leaving tap-ins from some of the longer putts. I guess there wasn't really anything dropping from medium to long length though.

I'm not really concerned by the score. I know I threw the round away, and I don't expect to score anything next time round.

Next round: 12/8, Toowoomba GC, 4-ball Agg Stab

AndyP

The 38 putts would be 34 putts for others, as I was on the fringe 4 times. Of course, that also means I only hit 2 greens.

It's the 15 penalties I'm more concerned about. That would indicate your course management was not particularly effective.

It's the 15 penalties I'm more concerned about.I've recalculated and got it down to 14. ;) Much better!
Note that shots penalised is not the same as penalties. If I dump it in the water and I'm dropping in more or less the same spot, there is a 1 shot penalty, but I've penalised myself 2 shots.

12 of those 14 shots were in the last 4 holes as I continued to put balls in the drink, by aiming at the pin, taking on hazards, plus mucking around. I didn't care that much and threw it away. Course management was pretty good until then.

This is not the sort of attitude that we expect from the POTY leader. Our younger players look up to the Ozgolf stars as examples and a role model.

I think we need to introduce some sort of fine or suspension for bringing Ozgolf into disrepute.

Went out for a social ( ) hit today at Brookwater. Found a bit of form, once I slowed the swing down a bit. Hit 5 shanks though with 4,7,8,9 irons. I think I was being a bit cautious of hurting my wrist any further and wasn't hitting through the shots properly. Made a few nice par saves and a kick in bird on the 9th.

79 gross for 72 nett.
12 fairways
6 GIR
30 putts

Next hit??? Maybe next Friday when Meghan is in daycare again.

Played in an Ambrose Corporate day at Paradise Palms today. Free Midori Slurpie's all round!
Can't really post my score, but it was probably the best ball-striking round I've had in quite some time. I stiffed a 7 iron to 4ft on the par 3 7th (signature hole), but still didn't win the pin.
As a team we shot -1 (3 birds/ 2 bogies) which I thought was pretty good around that course, but we still came 10th. That was enough for a Tackleworld cap & pair of nasty fishing sunnies.

Did I mention there was free alcohol on every tee.

I've made the semi finals of the Matchplay Championships by beating someone I have never beaten before, so pretty happy about that, as he is a much better golfer than me (plays off 1).

Next is a 13 yo Korean who plays off 3. As long as he doesnt hit the ball further or putt better than me I should be fine :-)

This will be the 6th time I have made a semi - havent cracked one yet though. If I do am looking forward to lining up against a +2 marker in the final. (yeah right)

Played The Lakes course @ Blue Canyon today, played off the blue plates (Blacks looked too penal, and caddy advised to play blue. Was not too bad overall ended up with 2 over nett. Had a triople bogey in with 5 pars. Nice course, lots of water hence the name.
Was a different experience to play with a caddy. Was good except for round the greens I could not get her to give me anything other than the sand wedge. I just can't play the fl;op shot she thought I should play.

Playing The Canyon course on Monday.

40 points at Riverlakes today. 22-18

Had 85 (42-43).

8 GIR
32 Putts (1.75 putts/GIR yes under 2)
4/12 Up and Downs
0/2 sand saves

3 birdies. 3 washes.

if only I could have played like that when I was a member. I think it helped that because I havent played out there in a while I was working out distances not picking clubs from memory.

The course was in great nick (dry). they are finially fixing the greens some are mint.

I may have to return its a cheap open comp at $8 +

new putter and driver worked ok.

Lost to shazza by 1.

I have tracked my stats for the last 8 rounds.

avg 94
37 putts
5 gir
4/16 up & downs.
0/2 sand saves

Easy ducky. only 18 holes I have been going my stats by golf digest method.

eg up & downs are shot inside 100m with a clear shot at the green.

but if I have two shots (pitch then chip) on one hole inside 100 then they both count as possible up & down attemps.

and I can also have a up & down that counts as a GIR eg on a par 5 where I'm just of in 2.

Played Middle Ridge with a couple of the boys today. Shot an 88 (32 pts) which is pretty ok for me. Statistically it looked horrible. 0 /14 fairways, 2/18 greens and 37 putts for 16 over par. Man those stats suck.

Being a bit tough on myself with the fairways in reg though. The first hole has fairway cut to a point, then there is like a 50 mtr gap and then the fairway is cut again. I drove into the 50mtr gap, but was pretty much left fairway if they cut it all the way through. But still, it wasn't fairway so it doesn't count!!

12/08/2007, Toowoomba GC, Agg Stab

6/14 effective tee-shots.
7/18 effective approaches.
0 penalised shots. ;)
5/6 up and down successes.
33 putts.
-------------------
11 pars.
4 bogeys.
3 doubles.

Score 42-40-82 stab 37pts (Par 37-35-72 ACR 71)

I'm pretty happy with that score as it confirmed that my score at Kooralbyn was nothing to worry about. I knew I had been striking it okay.

Started well with 6 from 7 pars, and finished with 5 straight pars. The middle section was a bit dodgy and I lost momentum. It would be nice to make those doubles, bogeys instead.

Next round: ??. Nothing planned between now and the Sydney trip.

35 points at Albury Golf Club today. Greens were beautiful. I hit a couple of very loose approaches, but otherwise played solid. After driving 20 yds short of the 18th green, I chunked my chip into the greenside trap. Not pretty.

Overall, I was pretty happy with that. 35 is probably as poorly as I could have done today. Drove it solid, putted steadily, and played the wind reasonably well.

Bought a new hybrid, too. A Srixon AD403 - 18* Stiff. Took a demo out today, and the trajectory and ballflight off the deck was a thing of beauty. Had to buy one. Someone needs to buy my Wishons, now. :)

Shit conditions and worse golf. Raised the bat.

It is one of golfs truisms that the worse you play the unluckier you get. But if you don't want to end up hard up against a tree in a nest of branches so that you are forced to take unplayables several times in a round - just don't hit it there.

I'm not sure whether to be disappointed at missing so many scoring chances in my 36 points today, or thankful that it wasn't worse. The greens at Camden Valley are as firm and quick as I've ever seen them, and I couldn't hold greens or get my chip shots going the right speed.

Fairways = 7 of 14, most missed by less than 6 feet though
Greens = 7 of 18
Putts = 33, 2 3putts, zero birdies
Up&Down = 4 of 7
Sand Saves = 0 of 3
