View Full Version : Ignore Thread Option?

Is there an ignore button - not like ignoring Jarro, but rather a whole thread, so when you click "New Posts" the threads you dont ever want to read dont show up.
Not that I know of. It would be nice though.Further research tells me that a modification can be added to do this.

But is there that much value in installing it? Is it that hard to manually ignore a thread? Who would like it added?

Meh, just open the threads you are interested in & hit 'Mark forums read' when you are done.

Agree with courty. It is easy to ignore the Sydney threads and just hit the mark as read later.

Install it. Those who dont want to use it dont have to.

My preference is to not install it if I don't have to. Plug-ins, especially those that affect the forum template, can cause extra work later on when there is template or forum updates.

Can I make another suggestion though? Make the 'Mark Forums Read' button more prominent (like the other, other forum )

I'm with MTB. I'd like the option, but if it's really too much work then we can live without it.

If there is support for it, then I'll do it, because I'm a nice guy. I just wanted to see how many would like it (I'm also curious as to which threads you would ignore).

Don't you use the Quick Links dropdown?

Didn't know it was there (hasn't been listed in Forum Tips yet. ;) Besides, that requires 2 mouse-clicks.

What other, other forum?

This one (http://www.thegolfforum.com/index.php?).

Its mainly the one's that have an interesting topic, but are not. Then you forget your not interested in them, and end up reading them again.

Besides its also helpful in dealing with forum addictions. if there is less threads to read, i might end up doing some work.

Can you attach a screenshot please, so I don't have to register?

If only there was a function that predicted which threads would turn into a dribble fest. Then again, it would have to be pretty good to predict that at Tour De France thread would turn into a movie quoting thread.

There's a mod that can put a link at the bottom of the new posts page.

I guess I'd start with the ones about babies and go from there.

At least I'd know which threads I could hang shit on you, without getting any grief back.

G69 could block all the Birthday threads.

I've installed it for now.
It will stop the thread from appearing in the new post view, forum view and the main index. It will however still appear on the portal/front page, as this is separate to the forum.

To ignore a thread you actually need to be in it. Select Thread tools -> Ignore this Thread from the top of the thread and it is done.
(Note: The current image is being changed by Courty to look similar to the subscribe image, but with an X instead of a tick.)

The list of threads you are ignoring can be found in your UserCP. You can also make this thread readable again from this area.

So what's the first thread you are going to ignore? Forum Tips? AndyP's Bag to get rid of those annoying daily updates?
