Hey everyone,

I was talking to a few guys in the chat earlier today about Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005. I have been playing it for a few hours now (on the PC), and it's much improved since the previous version (both in performance and visual appeal).

What's great about this version is that the ability to customise your golfer is much greater. The customisations are made up of almost anything you can think of. Want a face mole? No problem. Want bags under your eyes? You got it.

In addition to this, there has also been a big improvement in the equipment inventory. All the latest generation of equipment is on offer (Nike Ignite, Taylormade r7 Quad, Callaway ERC Fusion, Cleveland Launcher, etc), but you are now able to select your brand of shafts (such as a Graffalloy or True Temper), all the way down to grip colour.

I have included some screenshots (click for a larger version):

If anyone else buys it on the PC, let me know and we can have a game online.

Kind regards,

Ben (Ducky).

I'm still waiting for my PS2 version to arrive. For some reason it's not coming out for a week after all the other versions.

Do they have Titleist gear yet???

Ducky - what's the recommended specs for it? 2004 ran ok on my PC (P4 2.2 with 512 mb ram, 64 mb video memory), but was still pretty clunky for some reason.

Ducky - is there any change to the game play? I think the character building is cool - but I can't see myself buying it just for that.

Drunken,

It depends on which retailer you are purchasing the game from. Most online retailers already have the game stocked, as do places like K-Mart or Big-W (which is a big surprise).

They usually have the Titleist and FootJoy logos available for use on clothing, but they do not offer any Titleist equipment in the game. Apparently this comes about due to trademark/copyright issues. You can, however, use third party modifications to add addition equipment in, but that option is only available to PC (I personally am waiting for Augusta to be released for the 2005 version).

Pete,

I'll never speak to you again after insulting Nike equipment!

:x

Dan,

The only problem I could see with your current specifications would be your video card (128MB+ would be ideal). I'm not entirely sure on what the system requirements are for the 2005 version, but the performance feels a lot more optimised this time around. If you were able to run the 2004 version relatively well, you should have no problems with the 2005 version.

Amanda,

I haven't played a great deal of it to give you specifics, but first impressions would indicate that there are no major gameplay changes between the 2005 version and the 2004 version. It's basically the same U.I (user interface), and the same type of interaction. One of the reasons EA Sports had been marketing 'Tiger Proofing' and the 'Legends Tour' so religiously for is because these really are the only two major changes within the newest version. The other changes would be quite minor in comparison.

Kind regards,

Ben (Ducky).

Ducky - The PS2 version is yet to be released in OZ. THe PC, XBOX & Gamecube versions all came out last friday, but PS2 isn't coming out till next Monday (was Friday - Tomorrow, until yesterday when the release date changed). The only thing I can figure is that the PS2 version was in a different shipping container or something :?

Yeah so still no Titiest gear playable eg. available for purchase in the Pro Shop. I'm guessing there's no Aschunet companys available (Titliest, Cobra, Footjoy). Damn Titleist

Andy,

'Tiger Proofing' is where you able to customise the existing courses and make them more difficult for your oponents. This may include reducing the size of the greens, narrowing the fairways, deepening the bunkers, etc. If you go HERE (http://www.easports.com/games/tigerwoods2005/home.jsp), you can check out the videos (as well as the commercial) on the topic.

Drunken,

Big-W and K-Mart are advertising that they have the PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox versions in stock. I will ring them up tomorrow when I am feeling a bit more conscious and ask them about it.

Kind regards,

Ben (Ducky).

Ben - Ps2 version WAS meant to be realised the same day. But for some reason has been delayed by a week. All games stores I've spoken have confirmed this.

I personally am waiting for Augusta to be released for the 2005 version

I prefer Links LS, always thought that Tiger Woods was too arcady, plus Links has had Augusta available to play on since about 2001.

And that stance of Tiger woods in the pic, he doesnt squat down that much does he? (unless he is going to the bathroom)

The cut-scenes are terrible. Good thing he's a great golfer, because he can't act for crap. But i liked TW2k4, it's won me over but i've been a long-term Links fan..

Yeah, see half the problem is that the PC version has been neglected to accomodate the Xbox version (which sells a lot more copies due to the cheaper cost of owning an Xbox as compared to a performance PC). The cut scenes have basically been recycled from last years Xbox version and last years PC version (they have combined the two and made them look tacky), and even though the Xbox version is a lot more 'arcade' in it's style of play, it's customisation of appearance, equipment, and player performance is unmatched.

Personally, I do prefer Microsoft Links as well, but unfortunately production has stopped on the PC verions and is instead focused on the Xbox (much like the Tiger Woods series).

Kind regards,

Ben (Ducky).

Thanks the FAQ on that page is brilliant, the cheats are everywhere but actually playing hints are not easy to find.

worked how to enter the password, we were doing it right the whole time, (well my brother must have been stuffing it up, as it worked for me)

Is there any way to get this game to play difficult? We select Tiger Proofing, back tees difficult pins and Tour settings and we still shoot 14 under every time. For some reason every shot seems to go dead straight.
