This may be my one and only post in course talk. And it's kind of pointless (even I'll admitt that)

I'm just impressed with how they make the course look kind of not in the heart of the city, and especially hide the look of the residential living along the courses edges. It's not really the high quality housing you want to promote along the rim of your course.

That's all.

TTR, check the date of my post. It's from 4 years ago. G69 is dredging up the past.

Which is the better course - Toowoomba City or Middle Ridge?

goughy

Different courses. If I was show casing Toowoomba, I'd take people to Middle Ridge. City has the clubhouse to die for, cheap membership, always found it a friendly place. I would have always though MR was the tougher course, but City was always rated to it's par, whereas MR was rated one easier than it's par. Found that strange myself.

City is a cash cow.

That is because of 10th a 435m par 5 if you hit it straight it should be easy.

goughy's review is true but the Ridge is moving on with the new bar and deck area, and the onsite acc going to be built.

They bull dozed that upside down bowl green at Middle Ridge yet?

peter_rs
1st March 2011, 01:22 PM
no but it doesn't have the trees beside it any more

Blown/washed away?

peter_rs

cut down, over the last 2 year, they have removed trees, cleared under the pines and add a few new tee's and bunkers. The new tee on 3 was quickly scraped.

Played City today in the Trainee's Pro Am. I wish I could play it every week.

Great track.

I was thinking the same. Middle Ridge is great. Although its been almost a decade since I lived there.

To each their own. I have never played middle ridge so can't compare them.
It's great compared to North Lakes and a lot of other joints I have played.

I like City GC as well, if only they could firm up the greens a bit it would be even better.

The green were mint. I only wish I could him them! made 5 solid bogies from 100-125 out.

It's cheap, with an insane clubhouse. The changes inside, especially to the players bar are a big improvement.

No full strength beer or spirits allowed on the course = dump.

I didn't know you were a T-bar lad Mega. I left there after uni in 1997. I was a member at City from about 1989.

I was just joking about the last experience there (Jaster Day) and I am allowed to drink now, not that I am.

Only 3 years worth. Mind you, I loved every minute I was there.

Just a shame I met my wife to be there and forgot about golf. With two nice courses at my doorstep, one could say I really missed out.

And then we spend our married lives trying to negotiate to get to golf and forget about the wife!

Oh, the irony.

If they put the pin where it was on the LT day, it's fine. We couldn't get it from 2m.

Pete as the day went on today I couldn't help but think how flat, lifeless and mundane the previous green was and how its transformed into a life.
I kept thinking about Reddy bay and how greens like 10 and 13 could be converted from pancakes.

I believe the old Master Plan actually has proposals for both those greens. They went ahead and did 10 themselves to fix up drainage issues, but as good as our Super is at getting the job done, he ain't a designer and only enlarged the green.

Better get a big bulldozer. I really hope they let you have a crack at Reddy. Some life in the greens would be great. This is in reference to reddy bay, not the pics.
