Just wondering what courses your home club has reciprocals with??

I have no idea what mine are :? , as they're not listed in our annual handbook. I guess I'll have to go check with the girls in the office.

pretty poor it's not in your annual handbook. City has rights to lots of clubs, but mostly not big names. But we get enough good clubs in brissie etc. And we do get clubs like pittsworth, goombungi and chinchilla. What more do you want.

Nambour's reciprocal clubs are shown below. These are listed on the website, and not in the handbook. Can't say I've ever really taken advantage of it. Maybe for the occasional social round on another Sunshine Coast course.

Wow Andy - that's a lot of reciprocal clubs. Is that many reciprocals common?

Here are New Brighton's (though I've only heard of a few of the clubs on the list):

Playing rights only
Byron Bay, Cootamundra, Merewether, Queanbeyan, Tamworth, Taree, Wauchope, Wentworth, Woolgoolga, Joondalup

Full reciprocity
Vic - Patterson River, Goonawarra, Eastwood, Southern, Woodonga
Qld - Oxley, Pacific
SA - Mount Osmond
WA - Melville Glades

Plenty to choose from AP, but be interesting to see how many honour the system. It's pretty dead really. I know that Fox Hills was reciprocal with Ballina, but apparently they've barred it now.

It's good to see all the NRDGA (Northern Rivers) courses are somewhat reciprocal, from Coraki and Casino and the way up to Ocean Shores and Cooly/Tweed you can get a cheaper rate for casual or comp play.

Tip - Ocean Shores is reciprocal with Oatlands, Bonny Doon and Muirfield in Sydney ;)

Wow Andy - that's a lot of reciprocal clubs.
Yeah, but as you can see they are only half reciprocal. Probably only get half green fees there, and no other reciprocal rights. :smt102

Reciprocal rights for Emerald Lakes are the same as all the other Privately owned Golf Courses on the Gold Coast - NONE.

Wow, some great Rec. Rights! I need to join a club here in Sydney so I can get a registered handicap. But can't afford the memberships here. Does anyone have a good lead on cheap membership / great reciprocal right combination? I have heard of people joining clubs in the bush, but playing in the city??

I have heard of people joining clubs in the bush, but playing in the city??I cant answer your question, however it sounds as if your intention is to play the reciprocal clubs regularly? It wont work, you generally need a letter of intro for each visit and the amount of times you can play is usually limited!

I've never had to have a letter of introduction - everyone has just been ok with it. I think once I showed a Canberra drivers licence to show I wasn't a local with a dodgy recip deal, but most of our recip clubs cost half of my home clubs membership fees, so what's to gain by doing the dodgy?

Pacific members play for free at Tenterfield GC and we get 15 cents discount if we play there.

At least it is warmer at Pacific!!!

I just like playing lots of different courses. It'd be nice to look down at your reciprocal rights list and go, "Awesome, let go and play there." The other thing for me is just getting a handicap again. Playing socially without a handicap doesn't work!!! You just can't get a good tee-time, or play in the comps!

So has anyone got anything better than the Pacific / Tenterfield reciprocal deal??

Your in Brisbane Benny?

Benny

Gday Ferrins, I used to be in Brisbane, but now in Sydney.

My brother plays at Tweed Heads, so I play there a bit. I also, get down to Hilltop at Mollymook (South Coast NSW), but apart from that wherever I'm told! Wouold be good to get on a bit more regularly at some Metropolitan Sydney courses.

Join Riverside Oaks for $130 and play in the various Open Days around Sydney.

http://www.ozgolf.net/showthread.php/2048-Sydney-Open-Days

I know a few social golfers that have abandoned their $1k-$2k memberships at their local club, for their 10-20 games a year.

ps. The spirit of the reciprocal arrangements is to still be able to use a club's facilities, whilst you are away from home.

Benny
19th July 2012, 07:17 AM
Geez....that's fantastic! Nice golf course out there too! At the Open Days, do I need to be invited, or just call up and throw my name down?

Dotty
19th July 2012, 07:38 AM
Open Days mean open to general public, rather than just members and their invitees.

It is usually phone up and book a time, but you will need an official handicap and GolfLink number (which your home club will give you).

KristianJ
19th July 2012, 08:27 AM
Benny, Shell Cove Links has a similar deal where you get a handicap maintained, however there's no requirement to play a certain number of rounds there.

Riverside Oaks requires you to play 3 rounds a year, and those are about $80 a pop.

Talking recips, does your work still bring you to Canberra KJ?

Benny

Got it. That makes sense!

Benny

Thanks KristianJ, $179 per year they asking. http://www.linksshellcove.com.au/default.aspx?WebPage=80
(http://www.linksshellcove.com.au/default.aspx?WebPage=80)That's exactly what I'm looking for. Actually doesn't look like a bad course either?

Talking recips, does your work still bring you to Canberra KJ? Not really, Benno. More chance of me meandering down for a couple of days R&R than having any sort of work stuff to do.But I do plan to check out Muswelbrook on the way back home from Armidale on Tuesday...either that or Stonebridge at Cessnock (the old Oaks course used to be a reciprocal, but I doubt that Stonebridge has carried that on since i's now under the Troon banner).

Muswellbrook has always looked interesting to me whenever I have driven through that way, one day I will actually make the time and stop for a game. If you play there let me know what it's like.

Will do. I'm planning to have a hit at Longyard tomorrow morning, so depends on how quickly I get around there and when I get to Muswelbrook. I might only have time for 9 holes but that will be okay.

Be fairly chilly playing Longyard in the morning. I hope the wind isn't blowing!

I might need to buy a beanie. Wandering around the main streets of Armidale at the moment, and my head is rather chilled. If it is like this tomorrow morning it will be rather fun.

In something of a reversal of recent trends, Howlong GC has added a new Sydney reciprocal club, Liverpool GC. Might have a few games there once again.

There may be a rule similar to Gungahlin Lakes ... 'If you live within 50km of GL, then you can't use the reciprocal rights.'
