Whenever I play I always look in the paper the next day to check what the winning score was, course rating etc.

After playing Monday with JonoI'vegotaroarer, MattPencilGrip and Rickyipchipper I duly checked the paper Tuesday to see the winning score in the 4ball of 58 points !! Now I've been playing for quite a while and simply can't recall EVER seeing a score that high .

I played with a guy once who had 51 points individually (the winner at Bankstown had 47 points incidentally) so.... is 58 4ball points beatable ???

That's 2 guys both having the round of their lives on the same day. An average over over 3 pts per hole!

When I first joined a club, I played a 4 ball where I got on the card 14 times, and dropped from 24 to 20 in my hc. My partner scored 2x 4 pointers in his 4 holes recorded and we didn't win the day. And we were shocked, but another team scored about 52 points or something. 58 is remarkable. That's 3 pointers on 14 holes, with 4 pointers on the other 4. Blow me down!!!

With their aim that day they could probably piss in the bottle from 150m out with a cross wind.

Try playing in a 4B worst ball. My mate and I had 34 or 32 points and won the comp by about 6 strokes. Between the two of us we would have had 80 pts combined. Its a tough game - your strategies are quite different.

Pete, Bankstown let their own members have handicaps out to 36. Saw a guy one day off 31 hit every par 3 in regulation to score 45 points and he said it was a day where he did not play that good.

I saw that score in the paper and thought the same thing.

The best scores i can ever recall are 55's and a 56, all featuring a lady off 45 as one of the pairing. I've always thought there were probably some 5 or even 6 pointers in the round to get that sort of score. i don't think I've been part of a 50 point team score, ever.

Upon reflection, I suspect the score is genuine, because it is such a huge score you know you'd get asked about it. Cheats can get away with 50 or 51, but everyone would want to know how a 58 was achieved.

They were members weren't they? Maybe Rick can find out the full story for us.
