Hi Guy's
I am starting a Internet Lesson challange.
I have 2 people so far.
I would like to get 5 more to do this.
This is how it will work, I will be doing lessons every week over the internet for 1 year.
So you will get 52 x 1/2 hour lessons.
By internet and Phone.
The price is $350.00 per person.
There is only going to be 7 spots for this.
The challange is to drop your handicap the most and the winner will receive 6 month free more tuition with me. You must have a current AGU handicap.
You will send your swing to me and i will be going through all aspects of the game, Putting, chipping, bunkers, short game, long game, shaping shots.
During this I will allow the persons from interstate if up visiting on the Gold coast 2 x 1 hour extra lessons with me.
This is only open to Ozgolf members.
Please contact me on 0400767011
Thanks Addam

Addam, how are the internet lessons going to work, and do you have a payment plan?

Hi Pete

The program will work something like this, Like all internet lessons were the student must have access to a camera or even a digital camera like a sony cybershot for Eg.
Each month the students will send me a front and side veiw of them. I will then give them a indervidual fix for there swing to improve there action's.
I will do this by computer by me sending them pics and videos showing them the correct position. We will talk on the phone to each other discusing what we have to do to make wrong become right.
They will also receive drills to take to the range and even in the lounge room.
All students will receive the same drills as each other on a week to week base. Plus because each student has different needs there will also be indervidual drills for each person.]

So each month it will be like this

Month 1 Short irons pw-8 iron
Month 2 Mid irons 8-5 irons
Month 3 Long irons 5-2
Month 4 Fairway woods
Month 5 Drivers
Month 6 Sand Play (Fairway and Greenside)
Month 7 putting
Month 8 Chipping/Lob shots
Month 9 Shaping shots
Month 10 course management
Month 11 playing from Bad lies
Month 12 recap on 1-11

So each month there will be 4 lessons going over each section for each of the 7 students.
Every time a student plays they will fill in a play sheet that I have which tell's me
Fairways hit, greens hit, up and downs, sand saves, putts per round. score penalties, which side of fairway hit, green hit.
The sheet is amazing.
They will fill it out and send them to me and I will mark them.

This is nothing like a normal internet lesson where you pay $40.00 for someone to look at your swing and send you a few drills. This is like having a Teacher at a phone call away.
So if Say Matt is playing really bad on Sunday he can call me up and we will discuss what has happened and then I will suggest a few things to try and then he can take it to the range.
As far as payment The persons can pay pal me or deposit $350.00 into my account.
You know if you pay for the Gym with a membership you will use the Gym. So it is sort of like that.

$350 Divided by 52 = $6.73 per lesson

I think this is a very cheap way of getting lessons and I want to post each month the results of there playing test sheets.
I do not have to have 7 people to do this , I wanted to make a contest out of it because we all know how playing against each other brings out or best.
I teach 2 Japanese pro's this way and it works great.except when they call me at 3 am
If someone is unsure contact me.
I hope I have helped

Addam,

Next question, when do you envisage this will start? I am very keen at this stage as it is good value for money.

I may be interested - but my reservation is that I'm more a "show me" than "tell me" type of student. By that I mean I need the visual to show me what you mean rather than the verbal.
And - well this might sound rude - but if I - and 6 others - pay our $350 upfront - how do we know that you won't do a runner or frankly not be a great teacher ( please don't think I'm being horrible - but I just need some assurance).
So - now apart from me probably insulting not only your honesty but your ability - I'd like to say that I am interested.

Hi Peter
I am Going to start asap. People can pay and start as soon as I have all there details. It will take 1 week from the time someone pays to the first lesson so in that time we will be talking on the phone and getting everything I need off them and I will photo copy some Play sheets and send them some swing disks as well. I have had a lot of support on it. So it is now the first people that are ready can start I would say from Sunday 17th.
Any one wanting to start now Just give me a call.
I will give you my home number and address and I will need them to give me all there detail.
The people that have paid will be starting from next Sunday 17th at From 6.00pm.
Thanks Addam

Hi Flowergirl
I live on the gold coast and I have now over 69 students, If I was going to do a runner it would be the worst scam in history Ha ha.
I Think my name would be mud very quickly, and I would loose a lot more than 7 x $350.00.

With internet lessons yes it is hard to do Visual and I 100% agree with you. That is why you will be able to talk to me at the same time as your lesson. In a normal internet lesson, the person would send there video to me and I would break it down and send them a few fixes to work on and that is it. With this package I will be talking on the phone, sending back a weekly program to the student and weekly drills. After each week the student can either send me a video and tell me what is happening, ring me and talk to me about what they are doing or both.
Just remember as part of the deal if you are on the coast you can meet up with me and do 2 x 1 hour lessons while you are on holiday's. I can pick you up from your unit and drop you off.
All of this is going towards promoting me and helping you.
For the $350.00 you get me for 1 year and If someone after 5 lessons, feels I am not what they are after I will give them a refund less $100.00 which is more than fair. IT will cost me more than that to set up 1 student. That mean's if you quit I have charged you $20.00 per lesson.
After the 5 lessons you will be bound into a agrement and there will be no refund.
Does this sound fair.
Thanks
Addam

I am getting a video camera this weekend, so I should be good to go.

Which video camera are you getting, Ducky? I've been thinking of getting one for recording golf swings as well. I've been using the video function on my digital camera till now. Thought it's about time I got a proper camcorder.

This (http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&partNumber=DCRSR300&Dept=cameras) one looks pretty good.

The Smooth Slow Recording feature which allows 240 fps sounds perfect for looking at golf swings. (and for recording the club chuck drill ... 8-) )

The price tag is a bit hefty ... Going around $1350 new on ebay.

I had been looking at the Sony HDR-SR1 and the JVC GZ-HD7, which are both high definition (1080i) and record to HDD. Although, it's a tough decision. The Sony HDR-SR1 uses a variant of the MPEG-4 codec, which very little software supports at this time (which means it is hard to edit). The JVC GZ-HD7 uses the MPEG-2 codec (which is better quality than MPEG-4), but apparently isn't true high definition.

I want to use non-linear (i.e. HDD) storage for convenience, but apparently the MiniDV format creates better quality video. So this just makes matters more confusing.

I am going to head down to the local camera shop tomorrow and see if they can help me out.

Let us know which one you go with.

Do you know whether SR-1 has good playback capability on the camera's LCD screen? ie. slow motion, frame by frame, etc. This would be essential if you wanted to view your swing there and then instead of waiting to download the clip onto your computer.

Not sure, but the Sony HDR-SR1 (like the Sony DCR-SR300) has the ability to record 240fps for a brief period.

I am considering just going standard definition, as I am not really impressed by the current high definition offerings.

OK.someone is going to have to hold my hand and show me how to send video. Going to borrow a video - or I do have vide on my digital camera.
Any thoughts on what will be easier and more suitable.
And don't get too technical on me - knowledge is very limited ( as in zilch!!)

If you can borrow a video camera, that would be the better option by far. Video on the digital cameras isn't of the highest quality....

Goughy/AndyP,

Do you think it would be possible (if Addam agrees) to set up a sub-forum within 'In The Swing' to track our progress?

AndyP
13th June 2007, 07:15 AM
It would be possible, but the 'In the Swing' forum isn't very active in the first place, so these threads would probably stay up the top anyway. We'll see how it goes once the progress threads get going, and make the change then if required.

Jono
13th June 2007, 07:36 AM
I would be interested in following the progress as well. Matt3jab hit a beautiful drive on the 10th hole at Bankstown after the midround break. Rick3003, 3oneday, and I were busy eating our sandwiches whereas Matt was working on some drills that Addam had shown him. ;)

BTW, I would be in this too but I'm already getting a series of lessons from another pro at the moment. Having two swing coaches might confuse the hell out of my already confused swing ...

Sign up for a gmail/yahoo/hotmail etc email account Reenie. They're all free and are hosted out on the web, not at your employer. You can access your email and golf videos on there no matter where you go.
