Hewitt just got thumped by Nadal in 3 straight sets.

I never really like the bloke. I still can't figure out how he got to world No. 1 with his game  .

I say the same thing about Michael Chang. He had nothing but a game of hit and fetch, but he could fetch forever. That was what I always figured of hewitt, and he did do it well. Did....

Hewitt was always a little terrier that chased down everything and rarely gave up.

He's a dad now so his spirit has been crushed :p

Hewitt has had a resurgance in last few weeks, and has been in good form. He got to number one by not making mistakes, and letting his opponent make them. In today's tennis, that's not good enough. You have to be aggressive and go for your shots.
From what I've heard, he's finally caught on, and has started to improve his ranking.

Unfortunately, he came up against Nadal on clay. I'm hoping Federer is able to knock him off to add the French to his Slam collection.

With the grass court season next, I'd expect Lleyton to continue his form.

I watched the first set, apart from a slow start Hewitt was definately in the game. He's one bloke Nadal can't stare down and get under his skin, if anything it would just fire him up.

Lleyton is an absolute jerk on court, but he always tries his guts out, and is never beaten until the last point. He got lucky to be at his top just when an old guard (Sampras etc) were finished and the new champ (federer) hadn't quite found his way yet. He's not a top 5 player any more though, he just hasn't got the weapons.

You're all still being a bit harsh judging him against the best clay courter for 10 years.

I think Nadal will win again, but I reckon we are seeing just how good the Fed is by even taking him seriously as a chance. In this age of specialisation in the men's game, it really is an enormous effort for a fast court player to be the number 2 on clay. I don't think we'll see this again for a while after Roger goes.

Hewitt is, and always will be, a tool
I can't believe some of the shit he goes on with on the court :smt021

I thought Hewitt was a lot more controlled during both this French Open and the Hamburg Masters last weekend. For a bloke who has no claycourt game he played pretty well. He looked really switched on playing on a surface that doesn't suit him. I think he'll he well into the final week at Wimbledon.

I can't watch and cheer for Sharapova. Perhaps if I turn the sound off I can enjoy the aesthetically pleasing elements.
