Guys,

Great news...as of 23 May 2007 Eastlake GC officially has permission to build a bridge over Wentworth Avenue.

The local council has agreed not to appeal the decision handed down by the Land and Envrionment Court and the club and council have come to an agreement over the annual fees to be paid to the council for the 'rent of the airspace' the bridge takes up.

The bridge will be built free of charge by a company who retains the right to sell advertising on the bridge.

This is a huge moment for the club and and by all reports construction will begin very shortly.

The bridge (or lack of) has been holding back all other development on the course and clubhouse but with this now in place the strategic plan for the club can now be put in place.

I'll post more info as it comes to hand.

That's good to hear. It's beyond belief that the council would appeal against the bridge considering how busy that street is. :?

Pretty much, probably about 50m east of there... there will be a course reconfiguration to take place too. We've got 21 holes so it won't be a problem.

You guys had to cross that street in the course of play? Nuts. It's bad enough at toowoomba gc having to cross one lonely half used street ;)

We have to cross the road at Mirboo to play 12-16. I can't remember ever having to pause for a car.
