Woo Hoo finally had a good round where it all worked.
82 Gross
40 Points
7 Fairways
4 GIR
6/13 Up & Downs :)
31 putts
0/1 Sand Saves

7 pars & 1 birdie :p, missed the eagle putt on nine for the birdie, 2nd shot hit the pin and ricocheted to the side of the green

Was a good day, was clubhouse leader when I left but someone will come in with a better score. Handicap should drop a little off that, may even be well entrenched in the 17 level now.:)

7/14 Fairways
8/18 GIR
32 putts
3 U&D all with texas wedge
2 birds
9 pars
1 bogey
2 doubles
4 wipes

Today was terrible - 12 points :) yes - that's my total 18 hole score. I was just distracted from my golf all day. For the front 9 I hit driver really well - then everything rather poorly. On the back 9 I hit driver very poorly but my 5i was good.

I don't know if it was some sort of sixth sense - but when I called Brad to let him know I was on my way home - I found out he'd been in a very bad mountain biking accident (on his way to visit his parents) and was at home with his mum, sister, brother and sister in law over looking after him. His left shoulder (the one he dislocated in a tantrum on the golf course and later had an operation on) took the brunt of the fall - he's got limited movement and hopefully we'll get in to see his specialist next week. He's also covered in bruises and scratches. Of course - he was self-medicating with beer for the pain!

Back to golf - I definitely would like to get back to Macquarie Links again - tough course and surely I can improve on 12 points?

Oh - and I lost my match play against TS 7&5 - was trying to give TS the honour of beating me 10 & 8 but for a few holes I played ok!

30 points at Macquarie Links with the Ozgolfers today. I played better than that, but got nothing out of my round. On at least 4 greens I pitched just short, but the ball didn't run on.

Fairways = 12 of 14 - one of the two missed was on a lay-up hole
GIR = 4 of 18
Putts = 32, 2 3putts, no birdies
Up&Down = 5 of 10
Sand Saves = 0 of 2.

36 points at Macquarie Links with the Ozgolfers today. Driver is still behaving, short and slicing. Have to use fariway wood for a lot of second shot on the Par 4.

Fairways = 7 of 14

Putts = 30, 1 birdies
Up&Down = 4 of 8

Riding on a local boardwalk that's usually a bit slippery/mossy in the dry - but it had just rained.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone - he's on painkillers today but the doctor said to give it a few days for the swelling goes down before they can assess the damage.

Brad was more annoyed that it might interrupt our holidays to Vietnam in Nov!

Played again this morning at Ashlar, should have stayed in bed. Had the day where the things yesterday that came off, didn't today. 25 points but in all honesty it was not 15 shots worse.
Even the guys I played with said I was hitting the ball well and the score was not reflective of how I was playing. This is just my golf though consistently inconsistent. Good day out in the sun, course was very wet with the ball plugging regularly and no run on the fairways.
Any day at golf is a good day. Back to work tomorrow.:(

Play Kooralbyn stroke yesterday, srambled a back nine to match handicap. Went out wirth a terrible 49 came back with a better 43. Started the back nine - bogey, par, bird, par, par (and started to think great things,,,, only to get a tripple on the next 2 and a bogey 18th :( I've never worked out my stats before so i sat down and did them this morning (forgot putts though [when you have as many as me it gets hard to count]) and i figure
FIR: 9 (i thought this was pretty good)
GIR: 3 (i summise that this is bad :( )
2 1 putts the rest were all bad!!

I trust this wasn't the wooden walkway across Salt Pan Creek, which has signs prohibiting bicycle riding.

Otherwise, there might be a public liability claim available against the Council or the landowner.

Why does an accident on a wet, slippery day on a moss-covered surface have to be the fault of someone else?

Don't get me wrong, I hope there is no significant injury, but public liability has gone too far.

Mandy - don't know what I'd think would hurt the most - Brad's shoulder or your 12 points. Ouch to both.;) Hope you both recover.:mrgreen:

Played a social 9 holes with John on Anzac Day for a very nice 42 - 5 over. Nice honest golf. 4 pars and 5 bogeys. No doubles and 3 of the bogeys were tap ins.

Last day of pennant yesterday.:cry: I really enjoyed this season. Last year I lost games due to the game getting to my head - but this season I was happy how I played.
Yesterday I played a girl off 10 who is a very consistant player. We went head to head till the 10th - then she made 3 great putts in a row to win the next 3 holes - I won the next with a lovely birdie -then lost the next due to poorly played bunker shot - rule number 1 - get out the bunker - rule number 2 - refer to rule number 1!!!

We squared the next - but it was too late. I lost 3/2 - but was very happy how I played. The team lost 1/6:smt087 but their team's handicaps were 1,4,10,12,16,16,17.
Our team's are 9,16,16,18,22,24,26 - that's a lot of shots difference. They won division 2 and will go up next year. Good!!!!:smt038 We get Portsea and Sorrento back in our division - happy with that - 2 great courses!!!
We came 4th overall -which isn't great - but hey - it's better than 5th!!
I won 3, lost 2 and squared 1 - no complaints.

Next week is first round of club champs. All I want is 3 consistant games. In the past I've had some shockers in the champs - but this year I'm going to play well. ( please!!!)

Played my first round of golf yesterday since I had a hip replacement in November. Was reasonably pleased with my effort of 106. Played a few shots that will give me some confidence and a lot of very ordinary shots from being mindful of the hip and not rotaing the hips. Could have been 3 or 4 shots better as I missed some ordinary putts as our course greens were cored during the early part of the week. But it was great to get back on the course.

Well done raidrboy.

Played first round of club champs. 93/78. Didn't manage my round very well. Found a lot of trees.
35 putts, 2 GIR, 5 fairways. No birdies & 6 double bogeys will certainly impact on your round.

Played my first round today at Reddy Bay as a member.

Monthly Medal today, single stroke from the plates.

80 gross for 74 nett.
10 fairways
5 GIR
26 putts

Played "ok". Cold topped driver on the front 9 a couple of times. Had 2 Hitlers in the greenside traps. That's never good. Wedges were great. Putted pretty good, without really making anything. On the 12 I experimented with fading the driver. Worked well and still went plenty long. Hit all the fairways after that.

Played with agave, and saw Nudgee and Pat out there today. Agave got the shits on the bak nine and started playing from the plates (B grade plays medal off the gold tees). He hit some monster drives. I reckon he'd be nudging 120mph clubhead speed when he gets angry!

I made a hard game look harder in my 32 point round today. After a confidence destroying shank out of bounds on the 2nd, I struggled all day to hit the ball off the middle of the club. Some good recovery play saved a bad score from being a shocker.

Fairways = 7 of 14
GIR = 7 of 18
Putts = 34, two 3putts, zero birdies
Up&Down = 4 of 6
Sand Saves = 0 of 3 out of very wet and heavy sand
Penalties = 2

Another strange day for me, birdie the 1st, wipe the next two etc etc. Took a total of 3 wipes in the first 6 holes, but closed out the front 9 with a 4 pointer to get me to 18pts. Then managed a nice 22pts on the back for 40pts overall.

Just checked the results and I'm the lucky B Grade winner in a day where everyone else struggled I imagine.

Ball striking was really good, irons were on song and it was a case of what might've been as all three wipes were due to 2 or 3 chips per hole and some dodgy pitches.

My front nine was just amazing/weird, here's my stableford rundown 3,-,-,3,2,-,3,3,4, took me until our 12th hole to get my 2nd 2 pointer of the day.

7/14 Fairways
10/18 GIR
32 putts
4 U&D
3 birds
8 pars
3 bogies
1 double
3 wipes (2 wipes from within 50m of the green for 1 shot)

Played at riverlakes today in stableford round.

Had 30 points (10/20)... started out with a don't give a f*** attitude and it showed. Picked up the ball on two of the first nine holes cuz i couldn't be bothered to finish.

Finished with a birdie... enough to make you go out and play again.

Had my best worst round.. or my worst best. Not sure. 37 pts, 3 wipes. I was smashing the driver and flushing the irons, but a couple of hazards and a brain fart cost me.

Started with a birdie and 5 GIR's in the first 5 holes. The 5th was a monster putt however on wet, sandy greens and was an unfortunate 3-putt for go back to even!

I think about 8 GIR's, with about 3 more near-misses.

47 pts with my partner to lose on countback - we had 27 on the front 9 so we threw it away really. The winning team included the winner today - who had 46 on his own! :shock:

thats fair enough :smt023

just mentioned it because I thought its an interesting sign of the times. (twas nothing personal ---- really)

Hardly anybody changed clubs in the golf culture that I grew up with - if they did they were often viewed with some suspicion, like a cheat, not well liked and so on.

Seems gone are the days where a golfer just joined his local/closest golf club and stayed there forever, as there was a real sense of community involvement.

IMHO that is a major part of the reason why local clubs are struggling these days, and why a group like Ozgolf is so successful. Golfers love to bond, its just a different medium these days.

Hmm theres a thought, maybe some golf clubs need to start their own forums, or we get our own golf course.

2nd round of club champs. 87 to go with my 91 in the first round. Played the first 14 holes in 4s and 5s, but fell in a hole finishing 6, 6, 4, 7 (front 9 - no I didn't quad bogey the 18th). 36 putts, 5 fairways, 3 GIR.

Turns out I'm a little way behind in B-Grade. Two 13 markers had 76 off the stick in the first round.

look out ALo, at this rate next Saturday will be a 83, Sunday a 79 and Monday a 75 ;-)

Played middle ridge today with my band mates. 34 points with nothing special. Only parred 18 on the back nine. Played around with a few things today that worked ok when I remembered. Especially been trying to square my left hand on the grip, which feels weird but when I remember the results speak for themselves.

5/14 Fairways, 6 greens. 34 bloody putts. I 3 putted 3 greens I hit in regulation. That bites the big one. Hti my first shank in a while off the tee on the 16th. curved her round a tree right oob and luckily the car slowed down as the ball passed in front. Was my only hole worse than bogey, so I guess I'll take that. But I think the belly putter has run it's course.

Round at Mt Broughton wiyth mates, windy and cold but a really fun time. Hit the ballg reat again, and I'm going through a real good patch at the moment. Unfortunately with the breeze and lack of experience on these greens I had a shocker with 41 putts... 5 x 3 putts, no 1 putts.

Grabbed myself 35pts 86 off the bat, nett 73 (all holes holed out) off my now 13 handicap which I was quite happy with, but the best aspect was my 10 GIR to follow up the 10 GIR I had on Saturday.

The other most pleasing stat (and for those that know Mt Broughton this will be impressive) is I didn't lose a ball/hit one in the scrub all day until the 17th...to put this into context as a 4 ball we lost over 20 balls (one guy losing all 12 he started the round with, thankfully he found a couple while looking for his own.

5/14 Fairways
10/18 GIR -2nd round in a row
