first time i've started one of these threads.

Played Indooroopilly today with brother in law and a long hitting left hander who gave me a hiding.

Took the new sticks out for their first outing, and man am I hapy I'm back into X-100 shafts. So solid!

played gold -> green which is the captains course from memory.

81-75 - didn't hit driver at all which made it a little long.

Generally played ok, just took a few holes to get the groove on with the new irons.

from memory

6/14 Fairways
11/18 Greens
34 Putts

can't recall other stats, but I know I was 0/2 in sand saves.

Well,

..2nd round of our midweek champs were on today.

I was hoping to kick along and back up my great first round with a solid round today. Started great for a 4-over-Par 39 on the front. Made a solid par on the 10th, then went double, double, double, bogey, double, par, bogey, bogey for a back nine 47

Swing just seemed to desert me at the 10th tee :(

86 (nett 75)
8 fairways
6 G.I.R's
32 putts
1/10 up&downs

Yeah Pete, i still play off 13 for both rounds don't i ????

Might be good enough for a placing anyway, we'll see ;)

your game is on mate ;)
Did you start thinking about things a bit to much on the back 9?

Runner-up is still pretty good, even though it is the first loser. Plus you had a nice handicap drop. :D

Choke on the back nine did I hear you say. How about +2 at the turn yesterday and finishing up -5.

Or what about pennant today at The National. 4 up with 4 to go - and I squared.:smt087 She finished birdie, par, par , birdie including a chip in on the last hole. I'm on the green with a makeable putt and I slid it past. I could have cried. I played the best I could - she just finished better. That's golf I suppose.

Didn't make any difference to the team - we went down 2/5.

Its quite rare for someone to square up from dormie that far back - unless the frontrunner absolutely wobbles.

Obviously you didnt so well done - just think if you were only 3 up with 4 left you would have lost!

Now i want to know the truth :): which hole did the thought enter your head that you might lose the rest and square the game?

Never entered my mind that I would do anything but win. On the last hole I was home and hosed. A difficult par 3 - bunkers covering the front of a narrow green. I played a safe 5 wood to the right of the green and chipped on to 5 feet. She was in the bunker at the front - played a shot not onto the green still about 15 metres off the green on a big up slope- plays a scull shot that flew across the front of the green - she yells - go in - and the friggin ball did. And yes - I missed the putt. It was never a gimee - I was quite calm over it - but I missed it. ( she parred not birdie as in my last post - I was thinking par 4 not 3)
The last 4 holes were rated 1, 3 and 5. Now off my handicap I'm going well to par holes like these. I bogeyed them which is good golf for me. She just got lucky. When someone hasn't made a putt all day makes 3 great putts and a chip in - well I can't beat that. I tried and never gave up. Honest.

Gee, your a mental warrior! If i was 4 up and lost one, the first thought in my head is "i lose another one. thats only 2 up and thats really close"

I find that really odd, becuase if I was 1 up near the finish and lost a hole, it wouldnt bother me in the slightest, my thought will be something like "i only have to win 1 hole to have a significant lead"

I think i might have to do with getting into a comfort zone. It gets really easy when you start winning a lot of holes, but when you lose one its kinda like 'oops, I am not so invincible after all'

or maybe i just gotta stay off the drugs

I had a good caddy once that would tell me "dont worry, YOU cannot lose it from here, he has to win it", it makes a lot of sense really. in other words dont do anything stupid and he has to play out of his skin to win. Sounds like your opponent did just that - dont worry the odds are its not going to happen again for a long time :)

Played Riverlakes today For matchplay.
I was happy with how I hit the ball for most of today.
A couple of brainfart tee shots which were costly :smt087

Shot 84
30 Putts
7 Greens
6 Fairways

10 Pars
1 Birdie
3 Bogeys
3 Doubles
1 Ugly 10 (2 nice cold nutts straight into the piss :smt013 )

Phew! What a relief. I broke my handicap for the first time in months. Nothing flashy, but a solid 37 pts (with 1 wipe) and a 2 putt birdie to finish out the round.

Stats
Fairways: 10/14
Greens: 8/18
Putts: 30

Nice work, Courty. Last round before trip?

I am going to post a statistic in my game today that is almost unbelievable, even more so because I played quite well, and I'm happy with 38 points. I was 4 over after 5, and played the rest of the course 2 over, without putting very well.

Fairways = ZERO of 14
Greens in Reg = 10 of 18
Putts = 33, 1 3putt, 1 birdie
Up&Down = 2 of 3
Sand Saves = 1 of 3

I missed 8 fairways to the right, and 6 to the left, but I only hit three bad ones. All the others were within 2 yards of the fairway, and mostly hit the fairway and then bounced off. I don't know what to think about this.

I think welcome to my world. But only if you've got trees within 2 yards of the fairway.

Call it an off day with the driver that didn't penalise you as it could have.

Played in a 4BBB. I thought there was a single as well, but it was only the qualifying for the Knockout which I can't play because I'll be away. Only found that out at the end of the round, so I walked out hoping to play to my new low handicap of 13.

Combined with a 10-marker for 47 points, which should get nowhere near. 51 was leading when I left.

Turned out to be 37 points individual, with 3 simple putts missed (2 3-putts, 1 on a temp green)

* Par'd all of my no-shot holes
* Had a 3-putt PAR on the Index 18
* New driver is still going supreme, irons are solid.
* Should get NTP for 160cm on the 165m 6th
* NO SHANKED WEDGES - and something like 5 up'n'downs.

28 points on Sat. 86 gross I think.
Played ok, but scored quite badly. Chipping and putting was poor, so I probably should try practicising one of these days.

Got stuck behind 3 groups of "high rollers" from Conrad Jupiters who were being treated to some sort of day out with female escorts for all the groups and all the food and bev laid on etc.. It was friggin painful to watch these old clowns hacking it up. Over 5 hours for the round and they teed off half an hour before us... Needless to say I got frustrated with the pace of play and imploded.

2 man ambrose with a guy I met just before teeing off on Saturday morning at Mirboo. We were the classic wild willy and steady eddy combination (guess which one was me) and we managed to come home with 72 off the bat to net 62.75. Missed runner up by 0.25 and the winners had 62.

Mirboo needs some rain!! The fairways are running monstrously hard and fast and with some of the slopes I had a couple of drives roll from the tree line on the high side into the tree line on the low side. Very frustrating. 80m of run down the hill makes me feel like a gorilla.

Well there you all go I have completed a week with no golf:). No golf whatsoever either, no driving range, my practice drills & no lessons. Who said I could not do it? Wont last 2 weeks though, playing @ Eastlake GC on Tuesday.

Started with 4 straight bogies at Bright today. :( Recently cored greens made putting a bit of a lottery. Came good after that, and finished with 78 off the bat (+6) for the day. Nice day out... Drumond Club Day... Nice lunch, too. :)

Gee vegas, 5hrs plus for a round. Ouch.

Well went out at club (Blackwood,SA). Was hoping for something after dismal 3 or 4 weeks. Started bogey but then went only one more over for the first 9 and 20pts. Chuffed as Larry started back nine ok but then could hit a fairway for five holes. Got back on track par on last 3 for 17pts. 37pts all up and a small return to form. Hopefully can keep it going. Lucky though as run down for a ball was a 37pts. Gee tough day some good scores being posted lately and none by me LOL.
