Sad day when I start one of these! You get hit by a tug grant?

Monthly Mug at Reddy today. 100/74. Played a solid patch in the middle, but started slicing on the back 9 and killed what could have been a good round. 6 fairways, 34 putts, 2 Gir. 1 birdie, 2 pars and 5 bogeys with a bunch of balls in the water. Did see how I could play if I keep at it for a stretch of par - bird - par - bog - bog - bog. Frustrating bloody game.

Monthly medal today. 89/73. Real choppy game - only felt like I played 3 or 4 decent shots but didn't get into too much trouble.Putting a bit better - 15 on the front:mrgreen: - then 19 on the back:smt087

Pennant tomorrow - yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!

18 holes at Maryborough today. 88/75

Hit some great drives, hit some shockers too.

On the 2nd, ended up in the greenside bunker off the tee, so that's probably my longest drive ever. Looks like I might have scored a nearest the pin on the 3rd so that's all fun.

Partnered a guy off 15 who went round the first 7 holes in 1 over, so that was handy too (almost handshakes at 11).

Think I need to play some more.

Pennant today at Devil Bend golf course. I do like this course. Nothing flash but a good quality country style course. Played scrappy golf - again - against a girl on the same handicap. We were very evenly matched - both capable of great shots - but also some shockers. I was one up at the turn and ended winning 3up with 2 to go. The team went down 4/3:oops:

Played @ New Brighton today.
28 points
3 pars
1 birdie
lots of putts

Not sure how the score reflects how i played. New Brighton is another course that fails to tell you the greens are cored when you book. They even go as far as to make sure the greens around the clubhouse look like they are almost back to life. Enough whining, played ok just could not Putt! I think I hit every green in regulation for my handicap, just the 3 & 4 putts were too commonplace, anything over 4 feet was a lottery. Highlight was the 15th today, just off the green in 2 and the chip on hit the pin and somehow stayed out, tap in birdie.:)
Macarthur Grange tomorrow hopefully will start better than last week and complete the round for a win:smt023

Had another hit this morning, started off well 22 points after 9. But alas the good golf came to an end as we caught the groups that teed off the 10th earlier in the morning. 3.5 hours for the second nine and I could not get my rhythm going with 5+ min between shots. Wind also came up, but that was not the problem. I hate slow play! Had 14 on the back nine for a final score of 36. Weird to say I played better yesterday for 28 points but that is how I see it. :?
Monthly medal tomorrow, hopefully this will be a more complete round and not be littered with good holes and then extremely bad holes.

37pts today

15 on the front (including a 4 putt wipe on the first with that damn putter I bought off fishy dan) 22 on the back thanks to that great putter I bought off fishy dan ;)

Pretty solid ball striking day considering the amount of wind and rain about.

Strong breeze but no rain at Camden Valley today. I thought it was fairly difficult conditions, so I was quite happy with my 38 points. Two double bogeys killed a chance of a really good score.

Fairways = 8 of 14
Greens in Reg= 7 of 18, missed 4 others by less than a metre
Putts = 28, one birdie, zero 3putts
Up & Down = 6 of 9, 4 of those were putts from just off
Sand Saves = 1 of 1.

Oddest thing about today was that one of my partners was playing with the woods that came with the set of irons (Clevelands, and he hit the driver quite well). In these days of specialised drivers, fairway woods and rescues, nobody buys a full set of clubs anymore. It must be 5 years since I've seen this.

Played Monthly Medal today in tough windy conditions.
100 Gross
83 Nett
6/12 Fairways
4 GIR
36 putts
4/9 U/D
1/1 Sand Saves:)
12 shots in penalties:oops:
5 lost balls :?
3 pars & 1 birdie:)
an 11 on the last hole:shock:, was a tin cup moment trying to carry the water!

enough said out to 18 again. May have a game tomorrow, then back to work Monday. May join the guys for Newcastle on Friday.

91 off the stick (net 77) with 2 quadruples, only 5 pars and the 1 bird... very windy

had 35 putts but rolled the ball great and had so many lipouts from about 10 feet where the ball looked destined to drop but stayed up

driving was spot on today with 10/14 fairways but only 5 GIR which is a big let down as my irons have been very solid recently

EDIT: I did collect the B grade CTP

We ventured to windy lakes today, and it was exactly that, windy.

I played like a dog, couldn't get a decent run of scores together, and reminded myself why i've got a couple of handfuls of shots as a handicap.

Was good to meet shavey and tez, and although the golf wasn't breaking any records it was fun company all the same.
Greens were in pretty poor condition, recently renovated and let get pretty fury, which resulted in a combination of fluffy grass, dry patches, sand, core holes and duck shit, which made putting tough. There were more 3 putts from our group out there today than you'd find in an entire day usually. think there were a couple of 4 taps aswell :(

On the bright side, i'm getting a lot more confident with my tee shots. Concentration and accuracy through the rest of my game would come in handy. Got a new lob wedge the other day that i've figured out how to hit and is helping. Couple of bad breaks today got me a little cranky and it effected my game. 2nd hole was close to the tree line and hit a clean 6 iron, and caught the one branch hanging out and knocked me up against the fence. Same thing happened on the 17th, hit it crisp and clipped the highest branch on a tree i had to go over. Burnt the lip of the cup on 4 hole on the front 9, though they all couldhave fallen, back nine i gave up with the putter it was simply too hard!

Anyway all in all, a day when i didn't really get any breaks but still scored a few points (thanks mainly to the kind handicap). I just hope i got rid of my tough breaks today and can roll a couple next weekend.

33 points at Hervey Bay - quite windy but hit 9 fairways. Would have been better but finished with 4 consecutive 1 pointers. First time I've broken 90 at Hervey Bay. Tight little course.

Started to figure out what I'd been doing wrong off the tee, and felt very comfortable.

Greens had been cored a few weeks ago and were a bit of a lottery still.

07/04/06, Headland GC, Easter Open

6/14 effective T-shots.
5/18 effective approaches.
3/6 up & down successes.
37 putts.
-------------------
5 pars.
8 bogeys.
5 doubles.
Score 49-41-90 nett 79 (Par 36-36-72 CCR 73)

It was a tale of two nines for me today (well 8 and 10 anyway). I played the first 8 holes for +13, with 5 doubles, and zero pars. I was playing terribly, and there weren't many shots that resembled golf shots (at least that's what it felt like), and I just felt a bit stagnant. Play felt slow, I was dragging the feet, getting down, etc.

I decided to try and get a bit of energy going and fire myself up a bit. It seemed to work. I managed to hit the next 5 greens in regulation (not that I converted them all to par ) and saved my score on the back nine with some solid golf (+5 for the last 10).

I struggle with these greens every year and today was no different. Both speed and reading the break are a problem. :( Unfortunately, I'm sure the pins will be in tougher pins tomorrow. Sometimes I swear I get closer chipping than hitting a longish putt......

I'm hoping to carry some of the momentum from the bach nine forward to the second round tomorrow. But it's golf, so as if that's going to happen. ;)

Onewood made a flying visit to join me at the Monthly Medal round today. The golf was very poor, both of us shooting 88.

The one highlight of my round was the par 5 12th. I pulled my tee shot left into the trees. It dropped straight down in the middle of the ladies tee (inches in front of the marker). I hit a reasonable 3 wood from there to the right rough about 190 out. From there I flushed a 4 iron which faded around the corner to drop and stop 8 ft from the pin. Missed the tricky down-hill birdie attempt but the (relatively) easy par. Nothing else worthwhile to speak off. I'm sure Kev will be dropping by sometime soon to tell some tales also.

I don't normally post here because there's nothing worth posting but here goes. Played Nudgee today, Stableford round. Beautiful day cool with a little breeze which picked up to a bit of a blow by late morning. Had 35pts which included 4 pars and 4 bogeys.
8 Fairways
3 GIR
40 Putts
I have been having lessons, from someone Jarro recommended:shock: (thanks Jarro, Gary has been really good), on a regular basis. This has been really good and my full swing has developed though need to do lots more work. Today was the first time I took stats and it showed I really need to work on my putting.

I checked Golflink and while I played a few shots over my handicap compared to both Par and the CCR I didn't lose 0.1, I stayed on the same handicap, is this because they adjusted for the amount of pars I had?

There is a "buffer zone" that you need to play above your handicap to get back 0.1

Today I played one of the worst 36 points rounds I've ever played. Hardly hit a ball out of the middle of the club, but I managed to keep away from trouble, and played a number of good recovery shots. I also found that hacking the ball 160 metres off the tee isn't a disaster if it stays on the fairway.

Fairways = 10 of 14
Greens in reg = 9 of 18
Putts = 33, one birdie, 1 3putt
Up & down = 3 of 7
Sand Saves = 0 of 1
1 penalty shot.

Best thing about this game was that it rained a lot last night and this morning, rained on the way to the course, not a drop while on the links, and starting raining again as I was leaving the car park.

08/04/07, Headland GC, Easter Open Rd 2

6/14 effective fairways.
3/18 effective greens.
5/13 up and down successes.
32 putts.
-------------------
3 pars.
10 bogeys.
4 doubles.
1 other.
Score [B9 1st] 45-49-94 nett 83 (Par 36-36-72 CCR 73)

Overall it was a pretty crappy round.
My driving was crap, and I always seemed to be trying to recover from it. My ironplay seemed okay, but it never really had a chance. Putting was a bit up and down, but better than yesterday.

My round pretty much ended on our 10th (the 1st). Coming off tidy back to back pars, I hit a nice drive, then a well struck 7W approach, which surprising dropped well short of the green into the front of a big trap. 3 bunker shots, a chip and 2 putts later and my care factor for the round had disappeared.

Of course to get me back next time, I parred the 9th and 18th on both days.

Next round: Probably 10/4, Nambour GC, Social hit.

Thanks PeteyD, even more pleasing was the fact that it was a gross 98. It was disappointing to know that I could have had a way better score except for the putting, 40 putts is just woeful but standard for me lately.

I played at Paradise Palms today. I scored 29 pts, which I wasn't unhappy with. For a start, the par 72 course has an ACR of 76. Secondly, it was the best I have struck the ball in a long, long time. My putting was still a bit ordinary, but if I keep hitting fairways & greens like I did, I will be a happy little camper. The key to my swing woes seems to be a problem with incorrect/ insufficient hip & shoulder rotation on the backswing. Once I realised it and fixed it... VOILA!

Effective Tee-shots: 11/14
Greens: 9/18
Putts: 33
Sand saves: 0/1

Welcome to my world AP. It's a bugger to the score when you have to hit the green and 2 putt from 120 out just to save bogey. Since you're having the same problem I think I will blame my driver rather than the one driving too 8-)

Next game 10/7??? Either you're not playing again until July, or you're playing tomorrow and got the month wrong. Bugger me how you do it with a new bub at home.

Monthly medal at Mirboo Nth. Conditions were perfect so there were no excuses.

Was putting together a decent round with some good ball striking being cancelled out by disastrous work with the flat stick. Then had 8 over on the last 4 holes to spoil the day.

44-49=93 nett 72. 38 Putts  I hit 4 GIRs and didn't make par on any of them

I just looked at Golflink and I came 4th!! Doubly spewing about my poor finish now.

Played comp for the first time since Jan - Blue marker challenge at Virginia - 82/74. Had a tripple an a double which didn't help things. Couldn't make a put, but had a good time anyway.
