McLeod Cup
Saturday, April 14
Cost: $10 + $2 for pro pin (as won by damoocow last year - $164 prize then)
Registrations by Friday, March 23.

------------------------------

McLeod Cup time is nearly here again. It would be great to have another big turnout this year, as we've had in previous years. For some of you (Vegas, nudgee, 990B, Tez, Cobra, A-Lo) it could be the fourth time in a row playing this event (wow, I didn't realise there were that many of you).

I've sent an email to the club, but as yet, I've had no reply. I might have to rely on the telephone to see if they can accommodate us and get some more details. The plan is to see if they can keep our groups close together in the morning and off both tees, similar to last year.

Last year we had 19 OZgolfers, and had our second McLeod Cup winner. :D Who wants to win OZgolf's third?

I'd certainly like to play this after missing last year :(, so let the list begin.

I don't contribute to those self promoting "what did you shoot' theads.
Then again..at least if you shoot a good game and post in there about 25 wingnuts respond with.."nice shooting wankface"...or something like that.

I take offence to that wankface.

Oh, I'm in for the McLeod Cup as lucky number 13.

What??

This is a big event, I don't want to miss it. But its also the day for Christine's routine check up, and I already did my best I can to make it latest possible.

Lets say we don't get a 7am tee time, but a 8am one, and lets say we played extremely slow and got 5 hours round ok, I still got 30 mins travel in between and thats more than enough for me without flying at 190KM on the freeway.

Even better if its 7am, I got 6 hours buffer! Lets say its 5 hr round, I still got an hour and talking trashes with the rest of the clew in the 19th.

I hate that I can't post a score there.... Always seem to end up in the trees. Must try harder to stay on the fairways this year. 19deg hybrid off the tee could be the go.

The club has finally got back to me about the day, so here are some more details.

McLeod Cup
Saturday, April 14
Cost: $10 + $2 for pro pin (as won by damoocow last year - $164 prize then)
Timesheets avail to fellows: Sat, March 24
Timesheets avail to visitors (us): Mon, March 26

I need to supply definite numbers by Monday the 26th, so I'd like all our registrations taken care of by then, that is, no more pencils. They'll try to keep our groups together and off both tees as much as possible (unless I request otherwise). I'll then have to confirm all names and respective home clubs by Thurs, April 5.

Not as simple as our sweet Wynnum Cup deal, especially with McLeod's increase in fellows, but I'm sure things will work out okay like last year.

-------------

Are we allowed requests for groupings ?
I'd prefer to not have requests for specific groupings, but time considerations and OZgolf Matchplay matches will definitely be taken into account though.

Sorry guys. FIL said he's coming during the easter holidays to do our bathroom, laundry and toilet and finish off the rest of our house. While I may have been able to make this game depending on when we finish, I'll pull the pin. No point mucking about with it. Won't make the game at middle ridge on easter saturday either. Have you given up on this OZgolf day organising yet?

The problem with our big days is the heat from clubs for pullouts goes onto the organiser, instead of the individual withdrawing as would normally be the case. Something to keep in mind for any pikers. 1st Tee forum yellow card/red card system? :-k ;)

I don't know how to get around that... If we become a more formal social group, we'd be excluded from comps such as this... We're kind of in a grey area. We're a contiguous "mob".

Shavey, I can't say this far out but my neck/back is killing me after an ill fated "horsey ride" given to my two year old daughter. I'm off to the physio tomorrow so I'll know more then. It's bloody stiff and sore at the moment but I really want to Choppa a hiding so I'll give it until late as possible to rule myself out.

Don't worry about me mate. If you are not good for this weekend, we can reschedule. I want to make sure you are 110% so there are no excuses when I give you a hiding.
Now if you go and tell me that you can't drink with a sore back then we will be having words ;)

There's been a withdrawal from notlob. Congratulations shavey, you are in.

As a result, I have to change the groups around slightly.
A-Lo will need to go to the first group, Westy and Shavey will play in the second, and billybaub moves to a later time. This also means dougk can't be a reserve, unless there is a pullout from the first two groups. Hope this doesn't cause too many problems.

AndyP has the start time as 7:06 to 7:54 and I'm down for a group at 7:36. Now do I turn up at least fifteen minutes prior to 7:06, 7:36 or 7:54?

Am I considered late if I turn up at 8:00 and the last group is halfway down the 10th and I tee off and run after them and catch them up?

Inquiring minds need to know!!

p.s. Can someone provide me the address of McCleod GC so I can find my way there?

He is talking about the intersection straight after the roundabout off the highway, which is a left.
It should be a right at the second set of lights after this, then another turn right into Gertrude a few streets down.

For those who haven't used the internet before, this map might help betterer. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=+Gertrude+McLeod+Crescent,+Mount+Ommaney+brisban e&sll=-27.541306,152.940331&sspn=0.035617,0.066776&layer=&ie=UTF8&z=17&ll=-27.551389,152.925375&spn=0.004452,0.008347&om=1

You will notice some '+' and '-' buttons. This will move you about the map if you need. Also there are other '+' and '-' buttons which zoom in and ou. (yes i know this is confusing. which is which, I hear you ask?!?!)

Next week we'll learn how to drag the map about by pressing the button (left one that is) and moving the mouse at the same time, followed by using the mouse wheel to zoom in/out. This all takes some skill and hours of practise.

I hope this now helps!

I know most of us know to do this, but I said I would pass it on.

Could you pass on to your group that they put/write their full GolfLink number at the top of their cards. This will assist us when checking cards and handicaps if you maintain your record of providing a winner on the day.
