View Full Version : Choppa V SteveRawlo pre-matchplay sledge session

Choppa
23rd February 2007, 05:36 PM
Ok folks, in the spirit of taking this matchplay competition seriously, I am ponding interest in a Chop V Steve pre-matchplay pissfest. I was thinking a few quiet ales in a respectable city drinking establishment on a Friday afternoon/evening.

I figure if I have to give Steve 6 shots, the least I can do is make them Flaming Sambucca's ;)

It won't be for quite a few weeks yet, but would there be any interest in this?

P.S. Steve, you have to come mate.

This I have to see.......... It also gives me a good excuse for a drink ;)

Count me in.

AndyP
23rd February 2007, 06:29 PM
Oh dear!

You both don't mind a little poker, so would you be interested in playing in the City on that Friday evening as well, or would that get in the way of the drinking?

Dependent on timing, I'm interested.

P.S. Steve, you have to come mate.

I don't drink with anyone over 14.4 h'cap. It feels........inferior.

I'll make an exception in this case though.

Yes - so I can whip him in both disciplines :smt002

Choppa
23rd February 2007, 07:21 PM
ok this might be a goer. I'll give it some careful consideration, and arrange this momentus event for a date yet to be decided. I'll just have to make sure it's a date 69 can't make it.

Poker.....sure.

Pool tables......of course.

Bone socks.....ummm no sorry.

ok now that's just cruel. You do realise that 95% of this forum is now excluded :smt002

Don't worry mate, I'll be down to 13 and you will be out to 11 over the next couple of months.

Jarro

I'll never forget that little fella at Wynnum....I think he went for the hanky at one stage.

Only hanky i would've needed would be the one to wipe away the dribble running out the corner of your gob :p

If pool tables are there, so am i 8)

How do you know I was talking about you mate...I never mentioned names. I may have been referring to Just or another Wynnum matchplay loser.
Don't drag me into this. It couldn't have been me, because I don't give a flying f*%$ if I lose or score a couple of hundred, I only turn out to get away from the family for a few hours of peace and a quiet ale afterwards.

Choppa

16/17 March? St Patricks Day weekend. Do they play poker at any of the Irish pubs? Dooley's perhaps?

Your thoughts please gentlemen and Choppa.

AndyP
24th February 2007, 09:40 AM
The City Friday night Poker is at the Underground on Edward St. They probably don't have Sat night poker in the City, as it's not required to boost business.

I wouldn't be able to commit to any thing around March 16/17, with number 2's due date within the week.
Keep in mind that you guys have plenty of time for your match, considering Rd 1 won't be completed until at least mid-April.

Didn;t dooleys go through a total revamp and name change?
Yes. Which makes a complete arse of the Gaelic street signs out the front. Just to take the thread further off topic it used to be the Hacienda many years ago hence its vaguely spanish looking architecture.

How about Fihelly's Arms - out on the footpath tables. It's "Central" for most i'd have thought.

AndyP
20th March 2007, 11:16 AM
Fihelly's will be absolutely chockers on a Friday, as it is most days, but it is convenient.
The Brewhouse has several pool tables, I think.

Was just a typical night out in Gladdie which ended up in the gutter, watching the passing parade of under-age slappers. At least I didn't try and "win-on" to any of em.... unlike another member of choppa's family.

I don't recall much of the following day. Actually, come to think of it.... how did we get home from Gladstone???

Soooooooooooooo what's happening? As the organiser of this shindig, you should have a definite venue sorted out by now, Chop.

BTW, somewhere with a big screen would be ideal - Broncs vs Titans live on TV at 7.30.

The Vic is central, has a big screen, great beer garden, pool tables and from memory, a cheap happy hour on Friday arvos. That's got my vote but I am pretty easily pleased.

PS - I just read the first post again. "Respectable drinking establishment" is what your after eh? Maybe not The Vic then......

BrisVegas

I've had a couple of those in town so we probably shouldn't limit our venture to places I haven't shed blood.

How about across the road and down a bit at the Embassy. It's not a bad spot now. Pool tables as well.
