Define cheap?

$200-$300

Something with DGS300 would be ideal

There are some 762's too which look mint, but they have R300's. I think you're right, the 990's look pretty blade-like!

Rick,

Have you considered component clubs?

Not really Jono. Might pop in and see Gary tomorrow to see what he has for my bro-inlaw.

I am thinking of trying some mp-60's. I used to own a set of 32's and they were awesome irons but just lacked that little bit of forgiveness. Sold them before the 60's were released (I think!)

Rick... consider MP32s. great clubs.

I have gone from MP32s -> MP60s -> MP32s

For you hcp, you would be better off with MP32s. Trust me.

Didn't you find the long irons in the 60's more forgiving?

Yeah right, I have tried to convince myself in the past that I can hit blades - Guess what? I was wrong. Hey aren't you playing cavitys now?

I have and wasn't overly fussed to be honest. I know I am probably wasting my time but the mizunos are pure.

With the length you are hitting your driver. How offen are you going to use 3 or 4 iron into a Par 4?

If you buy MP60s now, you will end up with a set of MP32s in the near future. :-D

Need it for second shot into Par 5's? I WISH!

Seriously were the 60's noticably more forgiving?

NO

as per Mizuno website, MP60s is 4% larger than MP32s...

What is 4%?

Seriously, they're not gonna be any better than what you have now. Spend the money on the scoring clubs.... ie. putter, wedges and driver.

Gone half way anyway Rick, combo's. Next set will be cavities though. Will leave the blades to Tiger and not many others. Only used blades to keep ball flight down but now I have shallowed out my swing I can't see myself using blades again.
