Well it seems the experiment with the Hibore XL may be at an end.

It is certainly longer than the original Hibore but for me the trajectory is a lot lower. Not sure whether the loft is off but it seems to come out more like a 9.5* for me than 10.5* which I don't like. I guess it is off to Ebay or the Pro Shop.

With my swing speed testing in the past has shown that a high launch mid spin type of head works well for me and I had very good results with TM R5 N and a 905R (of course both of these have been sold)

Visually I need something with a square face or very minimally closed and have been pondering possible options over the last day or two.

1. SUMO
2. Launcher COMP
3. TM R7 460
4. 905R or wait for a D2


1. Research shows playing characterisitcs of the SUMO being similar to the XL and I have had bad results with Nike SQ so this one is out.
2. Little experience with COMPS and reviews have been a little iffy.
3. Have had good results with TM heads in the past but some heads are square and some look like they are 4* closed so it is a lottery.
4. Probably would make Nathan happy to see a Titleist driver back in my bag.

At this point I just do not know what to do :confused:

A 9.5 or 10.5 905R would fit the bill assuming you like any of the std shafts. They're cheap as chips now.

907D2 will be similar, but slightly lower spin... but twice the price.

I like the look of the R7 425, but it wasn't on your list.

Been down the Rapture path and for some reason ball flight was either strong draw or hook which is something I have never done with a driver. Could not adjust to it.

I love mine. :)

I had the shaft cut down and had a tip weight put in to bring the swing weight back up. Shaft was a VS Proto and certainly did not feel too soft. The pro who gives me lessons still says it is the best driver he has seen me hit.

Based on looks alone I would go with a Ping.

Somewhere down the track I would like to try a 510TP to see what all the fuss is about.

Would have bought a 905T but everyone I have seen looked pretty closed. Prefer the look of the 905S but I doubt it would suit.

Tough call Trung. I think the closest to ideal I have found was the Rapture.

Driving is my problem and I know the only way I will improve is to find one and stick with it for a while.

I have narrowed my choices at least.

I played a G5 with ProLaunch Blue (stiff) for a couple of weeks. It was plenty long, but the noodly tip in that shaft wasn't a good fit for me. Launched beautifully high, with very little spin. I would say the PL Blue Stiff plays more like a gentle firm to me. Could be worth a try, pinglauncher.
