not like me to start one of these threads! :-o

Snuck out for a quick 9 before work this morning. Hit it ok for 5 over, but hard to gauge form at 5:30am... Brooky's greens have recovered really well after last weeks coring. Looking forward to the weekend. I'm already very happy and comfortable with the new irons.

6/7 Fairways
4 GIR
17 putts

First day back to comp golf yesterday. Yeah!!!!

Stableford. 38 points. 45/40/85 37/34/71.

First holes was a woeful double - only saved from being a triple by a great putt. ( phew) 2nd, 3rd and 4th holes not much better but then the tables turned and played nice solid golf. Really hit the ball well and even made 5 up and downs which is amazing for me.
Had a shocker on the 11th - a long par 3 with an impossible green. 4 putts and a wipe - and I didn't even swear.

CCR was 69 so no handicap change - but happy with my game after such a bad start.

Playing at Moonah Links on Sunday in a four ball ambrose. Should be a great day.

Nice to be back at golf again - yeah!!! ( until the next bad game)

Had a run of 4BBB's lately - 42 & 43 points which were good enough for a ball - hard to really find enthusiasm but great days anyway - good company and a few beers - life can be tough.

Played 9 holes last night with Johnny Boy. Parred the first:mrgreen: Second hole - par 5 - second shot ran past the flag:shock: - tap in eagle. Unreal!!!!!!!!!! Great tee shot and the swweetest hit 5 wood shot I have ever ever done.

Next hole - short par 3 - ball was tracking to the hole - I think that I would have had a heart attack if it had gone in.

The rest of the game was average - too much excitement for me.

Congratulations Reenie, an eagle would have felt pretty special.

I wouldn't know though. :(

Nice stuff, Reenie. Your first eagle?

Second - I holed a shot from 80mtrs out one time. Just a fluke. This one was a "real" one. Never been on that green in 2 before. Never.

Relative to what? I still think it was a testing putt, that I should have got, but you would have missed by a mile.

Yes that day I may have, but you should have nailed it to get the Eagle off your back.

Easy to choke a putt like that.

It's no wonder I missed with a great big bird sticking it's talons into my back.

Just out of curiosity Grant, how many Eagles have you had??

Grunt
9th February 2007, 02:28 PM
ahh 5 or 6, remember I play at a course with several reachable par 5's. My highlight is still the 3/6 on the 16th at New Brighton.

No, it was the 12th, heading away from the clubhouse, after the par 3 11th over the water.

Played Mac Grange this morning.

38 points
85 Gross
68 nett
9/12 Fairways
5 GIR
33 putts
3/8 Up & Down
0/2 Sand Saves
2 Penalties

Had a good round, somehow have had distance added to all my shots, the swing must be working. I hit through 4 of the par 3's:shock:. Well lets see if this good form can continue.

4BBB (again ) today. I started nicely with a 15cm putt for birdie on the 1st, then it was so-so for the rest of the day (peaked too early :p). Although I did make birdie on one of the par 5s also. Our score was only 40pts, but it was more than enough to beat our oppposition.

I must say, after all the psychological damage Jono's putting drill did to me, I actually putted a lot better today than I have recently. A few loose ones still, but the misses were much closer than they had been.

Single vs. Par today at Brookwater.

74 gross for +5.
10 fairways

29 putts.

Had a 4-footer on 17 to go 2 under off the beater and finished bogey, double.

Great score, Dion. Looks like you've got that place figured out.

Handicap down to 6 now?

10th February 2007, 07:06 PM
Monthly medal at Caboolture. First round there for me in A-Grade. Course set up with some nasty pin positions.
The bad news - 4 double bogeys, 4 3-putts, 3 fairways.
The good news - 1/1 sand saves, 7 GIRs, 33 putts total, 1 birdie, 9 pars, 82 off the stick, net 70.
Won't be surprised if that causes another 0.3 reduction.

Had a fun day at wynnum with the lads. Great turnout. Was just Awesome.

Golf was shite. Was playing ok till I got a case of the lefts for about 5 holes which killed my round. Unfortunately my OB off the 10th missed all cars :(

Have pretty much resigned myself to these scores as my game continues to degrade. About all I had left was a killer 54* form 60 to 90mtrs and today I was lucky to get it to the green. Belly putter was good if not blazing. Didn't really sink anything much all day, and left quite a few short in the heart, but all and all it performed ok. I do like that once it's wedged firmly in place I can relax my grip till it's almost loose and not wobble around the place.

Highlight of the day - well there really wasn't one. I usually have something during my round that feels outstanding (great approach, soaring drive, my good 60 to 90mtr approaches) but nothing really happened today. Oh well...

I've been waiting for this day and it came in one big chunk.

46 points (1 wipe )

Nothing was that spectacular except for the deluge of water during the 5th hole. I was 12 points after 4 holes so there was no chance of my NCR'ing! I didn't do anything extraordinary, but I got the breaks you don't always get and when that happens you have to cash in.

Things like a really unlikely up'n'down on 6 for 3 pts, a long birdie on 8 to be +1 off the stick, doubled the next to turn with 24 points. Wiped the Index 18 with a brain fart on the green, unlucky not to par 12 and 14, lucky to par 15... you get the gist.

To sum it up, I got into the trees on the par 5 18th, 3 wood into more trees, 3 wood onto next fairway with 100 out to go over the tallest, oldest tree on the course. Put a wedge to about 25 feet and was unlucky to see it slide through low for a tap-in 6/2.

When you add it up it was 46 pts for the win, and 51 combined with my partner for the Best Ball win as well.

Slugged 2.4 down to 14.5 - lowest ever handicap.

11/02/2007, Wynnum Cup

9/13 effective fairways.
8/18 effective approaches.
1/3 up and down successes.
1/6 sand saves.
35 putts.
-------------------
9 pars.
7 bogeys.
2 doubles.
Score 43-38-81 nett 70 (Par 36-34-70 CCR 69)

At the moment I seem to be getting to the greens a lot better, unfortunately today I just couldn't read the greens or sink the putts, including missing some easy ones, until the last two holes. I didn't think I was going that well, but was surprised to see my score at the end. At least it's a PB for Wynnum.

Here's what I've played to the last few months: 16, 16, 17, 15, 13, 7, 19, 13, 12. That has to be the most consistent run I've ever had, so I'm not going to complain too much. And with the way I'm playing, there are going to be days when it will all go right, and I'll play under too.

WEll played you guys - especially Fishy. 46 points. Awesome:mrgreen:

Played in a 4b ambrose yesterday at Moonah Links. Oh my god!! Could it have been any windier!!!!!!!!!!!! The wind was blowing us off our feet. You could not hold your swing - the wind would just whip your club away - and putting. Gee it's hard to putt when the ball is blown away and off the green. Luckily it was ambrose and you couldn't get too serious about the game.
We palyed the Legends course. Haven't played it before- so I'm looking forwrad to having another go at it. A lot easier than the Open Course.
We had a 74 off the stick - combinded handicap ( 1/8) of 9.25. Got beaten by a shot by a team of bandits of a combined handicap of 19. Friggin cheats:evil: :smt002 Only angry cos first prize was a day spa treatment.

Jaysus Reenie! You were out in that?!!

I didn't even bother going to the range as I thought it would be a waste of time practicing hitting the ball while being blown over, fetching things that had blown away and other crap stuff.
