View Full Version : WTB: Clubs for the Mrs

So, I'm thinking of buying the Mrs some clubs as she was saying she'd like to start playing. (Yes I did try and convince her tennis would be a better option). So I was thinking of buying her a cheap set for xmas. There's a fair chance they will be dust collectors in a few months, so not keen on spending to much at this point in time. If she sticks with it, then we'll upgrade down the track.

Anyone got any recommendations of what to get, and where to get them?

Cheers

Hi poidda,

Brad went to a house-of-golf style place for my first set - he had the same idea about them becoming dust collectors - I think he spent $400 all up for clubs, bag, buggy. It wasn't the cheapest set in the shop - the 2nd cheapest ;)

Yeah, I thinkik I'm going to do the same. At the end of the day, it's not the clubs that are important, but more like the outfit!

When I got some clubs for the missus many years ago, I went and checked out a few from the trading post. Of course, that was before I discovered ebay and forums.

Would think one of the package deals through a golf retailer/pro would be the best option. Get everything in the package and most will throw in or discount the extras such as balls, tees etc.

Can usually take them back for exchange if they are the wrong colour as well.

You've made the mistake of not putting this on ISG. Then we could have got 20 pages of why the Mrs should / should not be fitted, 10 pages of the clone/component/oem battle, 30 pages about Ebay and then a rogue post on why she shouldn't buy clubs but get lessons instead.

Anyway I reckon she should get Titleist irons, they're made for women.

When I was looking at getting a new set I turned straight to eBay... there's a few good deals on there.

I stole my sisters instead ;)

Just get a package from your pro shop - or golf shop. They are just fine when you are starting out. I got my first set from Kmart:shock: Greg Norman mens set. You can pick up a buggy, bag and clubs for under $300. Good luck - oh with the golf and with the marriage if you start playing together:mrgreen:

Seriously talk to Billybaub as they are clearing out that shop he works in. He'll get you a good deal.

Yeah BB fixed me up 15 minutes ago. Cheers for that.

As for the MP33's, it was nice to finish a round yesterday with the wrists in tact.
