I was informed by the pro shop on the weekend that the course had been re-indexed and new ratings would be effective as of Wednesday comp (which I'm playing). But what they also told me was that the ACR had been changed from 71 to 73 (par 72). So I have some questions:

•How is the ACR calculated and by whom?
•Is it something that is done regularly by default, or only when there are course changes?
•Is a 2 shot jump a bit out of the norm? (I was very surprised at hearing thisas CCR is most often 71.)
•Could this be a result of the new greenkeeper fixing up the greens (better condition, but now also harder & faster)

I can't see how the current course setup could be any more difficult than a few years ago. In fact, it's probably slightly easier thanks to cyclone Larry removing some PITA trees.

I seem to recall some information being on the AGU website, under handicaps.

But here's some from a previous thread:

I guess someone who has been more involved with the golf club would be able to answer these questions, but 2 shots seems like a hefty jump. If the CCR continues to be 71, is there any point to adjusting the ACR?
