Anyone game a hybrid in place of a 5 iron?

Hey everyone,

Pretty open question really, I am looking at changing my irons and one set I am looking at only comes 6-pw, just wondering if I should try and find a 5 iron or go a hybrid in its place? If so what loft 26-28 degres?

I did for a long time. It’s still my favourite club but it’s resting in the garage.

I don't get much clubhead speed, so a Ping G20 27* fits well as the club above a 30* SGI iron (6i/7i, depending on age/model).

I've tried upgrading to mini-wood style 5h, but the gap gets too big. (Cumulative loft creep over the past decade doesn't help.)

Me too, I can hit my current 5 iron but still not as consistently as that old 5 hybrid.
