Samesy. Just regular masking tape (not the double-sided stuff) and homebrand hairspray. Never had any grips move.

Ditto to everyone here. Masking tape and cheap hairspray and nothing budges.

well, i cant beleive i doubted u blokes .
The missus went out bought me some $2 hairspray form coles and............................ yup, was a success.
not the best or easiest application mind you with double sided tape and a trendency to " stick ' half way no matter how much was applied, prob has something to do with the sticky formula hairpsay she chose but i got a full set of irons , a cpl of wedges and a driver/ faireway wood done with it.
does take a lot more time than with solvent but if its for a cpl o clubs only , theres no real issue.

as an aside.......................,
be carefull with the brand u choose bec i DID notice a cpl of fiesty young muscly uber bombers subliminaly came up a bit close and personal more than once and leant in ......................,

attracted no doubt to the essence of womnahood that was eminating foerm my bag.

just a friendly warning to consider it u choose this way going forward........................................

It’s easier with no tape

Or at least no Double Sided Tape. Use Masking Tape or Cloth Tape instead, or as Mike says, no tape at all.

You're not worried about the grip moving at impact? I've always used double-sided tape...

Gonna try this tomorrow.

I have not had one move yet ( I used Cloth Tape or Masking Tape, approx. equivalent of 4 papers). Lots of new Brand stuff comes out of the factory now without any tape at all, just a spray on glue.

I only ever use masking tape. Cloth tape can have the adhesives leach out, creating a gooey mess that is a nightmare to remove.

So is it easy to slide grips on with just masking tape and hairspray?

(noted: get the no-homo brand).

Not for me, it wasn't! Tried and tried and just wasn't fast enough. Used a solvent.

You’ve done something wrong. Not enough spray?

Slide them on with glue, it will also stop them from slipping.

Did you spray the inside of the grip as well as the tape? :-s

I presume you didn't use an air gun? Makes it very easy.

I need one with an adjustable airflow nozzle....... Mine are too difficult to keep the airflow low, and my idea of low flow is much higher than the grip needs.

https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/Ca0AAOSwZW5aAg8v/s-l400.jpgI like the Pure one, but it doesn't suit large Putter Grips and some other grips. So I tend to use the first one more these days.

For those still using solvent and double-sided tape — if your grips are warm they will stretch a bit easier and go on with much less effort.

I sit my grips in a thing of hot water while I apply the double-sided tape, then 2-3 squirts of solvent and they slip right on.

Used WD40 as solvent today.

Worked a treat.

While this thread is rolling, I'll ask a question about grips themselves. How do you pick the core size of your grip? I've got two here that are .58 core, and when I did regrip one club with two layers of making tape, it certainly didn't go on as easy as I've seen on vids. Granted I didn't have it in a vice then. I have a shaft clamp now to use.But do you pick the grip core size based on the shaft butt size? Or in my case where I'm just using making tape, should I stick with the smaller size for a better hold?
