I have given up trying to be a real man and will suck it up and buy a ball retreiver. sick of losing 3 balls a round, usually can flip it out with my wedge but now we have too much silt, and lose it when it gets stirred up. so annoying when it was within hands reach (screw that, we got eels)

there is a few different kinds of retrievers, see this page for examples, which one best in the mud/silt?

The irony is adding a ball retriever to your bag immediately costs you 2.

Take up lawn bowls. You've jumped the golf shark. #notlikechriseveret #likehappydays

My mates use this one and it extends to 10ft, the ones on eBay only do 6ft which is useless for my course.

Looks like it's out of stock ..........

What? Nobody has suggested yet that you spend the $$$s on lessons instead so that you don't hit it in the water?🤣

This one works really well for me and unless it's out of reach. I have yet to fail to retrieve a ball from any terrain.

Andy, do you push down on top of the ball for that one, or do you go under the ball and lift up?

Both direction depends on terrain and situation, and sometime even side on if leaning against something on awkward angle, and I don't have to try very hard neither. The rubber grip grabs very well in any condition in my personal experience.

I have it for more than 2 years now and it never miss a bit too.

Just drop another ball and move on you tight wads.

True most of the time. But sometimes you need to check the ball identity to confirm the crossing point. I carry a Search and Rescue, which fits neatly in the side pocket of the bag. It rarely gets pulled (others don't know I have it, so don't ask to borrow it).

Mine is like the green one in the foreground of this photo below. It telescopes down to about 2 feet for storage.

I got the one with the two chrome loops at 10 o clock... its worked well so far getting balls from the silt. Picked up 5 or so the first time I looked
but typically, havent used it for myself yet since the 2 rounds I have had it. If only i got it a month earlier!
