Can anyone recommend a good club fitter around Brisbane. My in law has ping g20 driver and irons. He is thinking it might be time to upgrade but wants to try what else is out there. Not to keen on going to Drummond or golf world

CMT Golf on the Gold Coast is a Mizuno fitter, but quite often has other good quality second hand to try as well.

Check out the mob at Brisbane Golf Club. Garry Calder is there and the main guy is someone he taught years ago.

Ditto for Garry Calder. I emailed him recently to ask if he was still in the game. I got fitted by him and his brother long ago when they ran their own shop.

Yes we still do fittings... sort out best shaft, specs etc etc... $135 for the hour

We can make some solid recommendations re: length, shaft, lie, head design etc

We sure are able to build, if you have the components, to the best specs.

Thanks everyone I’ll give him a few options. Any drivers he should worry about or should definitely try? Hear good things about about sim2 and epic speed

As for brand/model recommendations, it depends on whether he likes the G20's or not.

I found the G20 driver a brilliant driver, but I have a low swing speed. Modern TM drivers don't work for me, as I can't get the spin to keep the ball in the air.
Others found the G20 launched too high or was too spinny, but they love the modern TM drivers.

Ping irons are virtually the same for each new release (slight weight reposition or sharper grooves). The big improvement for him is getting the right shaft for his swing (and not just steel vs. graphite and stiff vs. regular in the manufacturers offerings). Again, TM irons go too low for me, but run a long way, so it looks like I'm hitting longer on the launch monitor.

He is doing the right thing going to an experienced fitter. Make sure he takes along his current clubs, and tells the fitter what he likes and doesn't like about them (e.g. mostly fades, occasional snap hook, drives stop where they land, ball runs off back of green with irons, can't carry bunkers/hazards, etc.)

Thanks dotty will pass that on. He is playing off 8 and has wants the most forgiveness as he doesn’t think he will get any better. Plays 3-4 times a week. Doesn’t work the ball just wants it to go straight
