Post new clubs specs here and any performance questions if you are new to this movement.
Also any on course great shots you have made.

Guess this could of been in Equip but there will be issues with how to utilise this club.

What do you play it "instead" of? 4 iron/hybrid?

I used to carry one way back when Callaway released the Heaven Wood.
The reason I gave one a go in the first place was for using out of the thick lush barley grass rough at Balaklava during winter season. Medium to long irons used to turn over to easy. The Heaven Wood was in it's element out of the rough and off nearly any lie for that matter. That club got me out of many a poor position and mostly back into a great or playable position where an iron could not. When I stopped playing at Balaklava I had no real use for it any more. My best mate couldn't wait to take it off my hands and loved using it as well.

I found it was around the same length as my 3iron on a full shot but totally different ball flight naturally.

Is this thread for those who identify with the Red tees?

Like DJ and Cam Smith?

Still have my V-Steel 7 wood. Had it since the RM day. And its still the most reliable club in my bag.

You haven't looked in my spare bag. :)

I'm a big fan of 4w/7w WITB. Currently, Ping G 3w/5w turned up to 17*/20* (to take advantage of the slightly longer shafts).

The 9w offers more carry/less roll than the 4h, but the 4h matches the 5h. (It just depends how crap I am swinging that month, how much a non-matching club plays on my mind and the bragging rights of knocking a 9w closer than someone else's 7-8 iron.)

A 4 wood might be too much club for me.

I was going to look for a 4 hybrid, but I might be sold on a 7 wood instead now.

I love my 4hy, but am curious to try a 7 wood.

Haven’t hit one in 30 years.

I have no shame  in admitting that I carry a callaway x hot 9 wood. Known by my friends as the Fernwood (after the ladies only gym)

Get about 180m out of it but wind direction can have huge impact

In fact at my age the longest iron I use is 6. I slot a 5 hybrid in between

It's not how...it's how many (like how my mrs tells me it's not about size)

Nearly cried when I ran over my golf bag and snapped the shaft of my callaway v series 7 wood. Replaced the shaft with a kuro kage black and it is even better now.

Easily the most versatile club in my bag. Nearly had my first hole in one at Wynnum's 6th a few months ago, hole was playing 170, ball flew high landed softly and skimmed the edge finishing 28cm behind the hole.

Are 7 woods good out of the rough? I thought that was the strength of the hybrid over the wood?

Swing harder. You’ll get through it

really depends on the sole weighting. I dont think head size matters as much as a big clump of lead down low.

I use a 4 wood / 7 wood combo with the 5 iron my longest iron.

I hit it super high, it flies about 225 and lands super soft.

No way I could consistently hit my 3 or 4 iron as well consistently.

Only down side is when I need to hit something below the wind, but in the event I play a course that demands lots of these shots I pull it out and slot the 2 iron in.
