View Full Version : Lakelands $39.00 - Saturday 9th December

shavey
7th September 2006, 11:03 AM
Join us for the end of season bash at Lakelands. Pre-golf BBQ lunch with a 1:30pm shotgun start followed by presentation and prizes.

$60.00 per person including lunch and money towards prizes.

*Please note one and all that our course renos (greens and fairways) will have been completed two weeks prior but the course will still be in good condition.

UPDATED - I know it's along way out but due to the lack on interest, I won't worry about trying to coordinate a package with lunch and prizes. The rate is golf only - $39.00 with cart and use of the driving range.

Shavey, is this just for AGU handicap people, or can some social hackers come too?

shavey
7th September 2006, 11:29 AM
Social hackers are okay PeteyD but preferrably the ozgolf crowd. Numbers won't be an issue.

I'm out for this one due to other commitments,

What a bugger I like Lakeland's and golf at Lakeland's for only $39 is a bargain even if there is renos at that time.

$39.00 with cart and use of the driving range.

think it is all inclusive just no lunch.

shavey

I was going to do $60 inclusive of lunch, golf and money for prizes but nobody seemed interested...

Two more.

Jarro.
Tezza.

As some of you know, I am leaving Brisbane for 3 years and thought I better get a game in with you guys before I leave

Was hoping to have a farwell game at Windy before the end of the year, but with this game and the Gailes game on figured it really didn't leave much time for another game before Christmas.

So I decide seeing as this will probably be the last game before Christmas, I better make an effort before I disappear off into the sunset.

Terry.

Were you seriously considering playing Gailes on two consecutive weekends??

Also, $33 is a bit rude for a social game there, if that's what you are talking about. Much better off in the comp at $20.

Yes, Hackers is there on the Sunday. Unfortunately, they don't get enough people to get bulk booking discounts now, so it's full social rate.

shavey
4th December 2006, 08:13 PM
Renos completed a week ago and the course isn't looking to bad. We played a stafff vs members day on Sunday and the members average 40 points playing from the whites!

Due to an enquiry or two, I'm going to move the event to a 1:00pm single tee start which hopefully won't upset too many people. If you could please write beside your name that you know of the time change, that would be appreciated.

Do you guys want to play from the black, blue or white markers? I'll try and organise a pinsheet for the day to.

NO I should be happy coming up to 14 days without a day off working 12+ hour days and being told that you have another 7 to do if you want time of for Xmas. But I could b1tch all night, no money is worth it. I have seen shazza for like 5 days in the last 6 weeks. and we are ment to be moving house.

It also has the added bonus that no ozgolfer has to draw the short straw and get grouped with me ;)

Format for the day...

Playing from the blue markers.

We have long drives on holes 1, 9,12 and 18

We have NTP markers on holes 3, 6, 14 and 17

Tim and I have managed to russle up some goodies but would appreciate some extras so bring what you can. And not the shite that you can't get rid of elsewhere ;)

Tim and I will be here around 12:00pm so we can collect the cash.

See you all then...

AndyP
8th December 2006, 04:57 PM
From memory, only one person voted for blue markershere. That person must have a lot of power.

Thanks shavey.

That's a bloody lot of long drive holes.
I'm not sure what I could offer for prizes, but I'll have a look to see if there is anything half decent.
I'll probably get there somewhere around 12:30p.

9th December 2006, 11:03 PM
Thanks for the day, Shavey & Tim, and thanks for organising, and putting the prize packs together. It had great fun, and Cameron enjoyed it as well. He loved Lakelands too.
I could really get used to these sort of rounds.

The wind was pretty tough, and the greens had a bit of pot luck element to them, but there wasn't much to complain about.

I'm not sure who qualifies as an "OZgolfer" anymore, as the lines are blurry. So I'll just list all the scores that I have and prize winners for now.

1. Tim 40pts
Sometimes he didn't seem to be going that well, but would somehow manage to keep getting par. He had +4 off the stick. Nice work, although you wouldn't know it from his reaction.
2. AndyP 36pts (prize pack)
2. poidda 36pts (prize pack)
2. PeteyD 36pts (prize pack)
5. Shavey 35pts
Seemed to make his score from other fairways most of the time. Played some pretty impressive shots to salvage, and looked to be really enjoying himself.
5. Andreas 35pts
5. andylo 35pts (prize pack)
8. RosGolf 31pts
9. prmeier 26pts
10. Moe Norman 25pts
10. Cameron 25pts (played off 27 although not an AGU marker)
Struggled to cope with the tougher back nine, but built an early reputation as being a gun inside 80m.....until we told him so and stood over him and watched while he choked on one.
Vas, OJ 20something pts
No Macca, 990B, Nudgee or Frank.

NTP 3 andylo
NTP 6 prmeier
NTP 14 Andreas
NTP 17 OJ

Long Drive 1 RosGolf
Long Drive 9 Andreas
Long Drive 12 Moe Norman
Long Drive 18 RosGolf (Yes...again. She knocked off Moe's monster.)

There was a Special Prize for Moe Norman. He was awarded with a Peter Thomson book for reading, as he's a big fan. He was struggling to contain his excitement and I'd expect that he'll be able to give us a review on the book by tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the overview AP.

Throughly enjoyed the company today.

Nice to get out there and just hit it without fear of the score.

And thanks again to those that did show up. From the responses received, I will endeavour to organise a day early new year.

If I'm still working there... GULP!

Moe Norman
10th December 2006, 09:53 AM
AndyP not sure if it matters, but on the return trip we actually added up the respective scores. Were a bit blurry due to the match we had going taking precedence over the card.

Andreas - 36 Points
Moe Norman - 29 Points
Vas - 24 Points
Olly - 23 Points

Reading those scores its hard to believe me and Olly won the match 2 & 1. But 21 of my points were scored between the 8th and 17th holes ;)

Have't quite started the book as yet, I'm currently reading "Donald Trump or Jack Nicklaus - who can squeeze more waterfalls onto a golf course?" :D

PS: my tee shots on 12 and 18 were both 300m + I CANNOT believe they got knocked off! Even from the ladies tees Ros must have really knocked them way out there! Especially the one on 18 where my approach was a mere 65m pitch....

Moe Norman
10th December 2006, 09:53 AM
PS: andreas will be signed up soon enough, the other 2 are a lost cause - thugh Vas has posted here before.

PeteyD
10th December 2006, 12:46 PM
The drive on 12 (it was a long drive and not a NTP AndyP) was over 300 metres and that one stayed. I thought it had been forgotton until I noticed it in the distance from where my drive finished! I didn't see where the one on 18, Ros had moved the stake.

Moe Norman
10th December 2006, 02:45 PM
the one on 12 was bigger than the one on 18, but it was downwind so doesn't count.

poidda
10th December 2006, 06:27 PM
Ros was smashing her driver allday, and was well in front of me. (not that that means anything)

She deserved both long drives even if she had a little head start.

PD's children are good kids :) They bring lots of fun to the game.

I had a very good day with my driver except one hole 2 and another hole. AP described the green well but its nothing to complaint about :)
