View Full Version : What are the chances...

June long weekend, coming to Brissy Friday night, then whisked down to Casino. Return to BrisVegas on Monday for evening departure. It's the wifes sisters birthday (Sunday).

I have no transport other than what's at the farm. I dare say taking the clubs will be awkward (though clothes fit well around a set of clubs in the BagBoy).

But perhaps a game can be arranged on the Goldie on Monday morning? Perhaps you can venture to Casino for the Saturday comp ;)

Hmm, I still don't like my chances... interest?

I will register interest in a hit on the Gold Coast on Monday morning (June 14).

Excellent! You know you're going to get me into trouble. I was kinda hoping you'd all tell me to f*ck off back south of the border so i wouldn't be tempted to bring the bats with me...

Let's see, i cooked a good meal last night.. perhaps another month of those and i'll be right.. ;)

Don't forget the foot massages, back rubs, ironing,........

Any courses in mind? Social or comp?

Fishman Dan
5th May 2004, 11:24 AM
Social is fine - you want to see my game on a good day after all. Something a little extravagent would be good too, i'd like to go back to Hope Island one of these days. What's it cost there now?

AndyP
5th May 2004, 11:39 AM
The "other" site says $110. I still can't justify spending that much money on a round of golf. :( Do you know how many nappies that money could buy?

Gold Coast Country club often has a $15 special advertised in the paper, and its a decent golf course.

Coolongatta Tweed is always exceptional value, probably sneaking about to the $30-40 green fee.

Murwilllumbah, which is about $20 or maybe less.
I have not played there, but it comes highly recommended and not just becuase of the price.

AndyP
6th May 2004, 07:29 AM
Of the 3 courses, Blakey mentioned, I would prefer to have a hit at Coolongatta Tweed. I had a hit there when I was too young to appreciate it, and wasn't that into golf at the time.

Fishman Dan

If you're keen to come down that far, it would make it easier to bargain with the boss(es) if i didn't have to cross the border.

So perhaps;

Cooly/Tweed
Mur'bah
Ocean Shores (fave course - at the end of the Cooly/Yelgun freeway)

All about the same price - i think Ocean Shores is $32 according to the Golf Course Guide.

AndyP

Ocean Shores.
You are pushing your luck, aren't you? Are you trying to slowly stretch us out, and eventually have us going to Casino? [-X

What time in the morning did you want to play? I'll call the pro shop now and arrange the tee times.

You know Casino is just another 45 minutes past Byron, which is about 45 minutes past Cooly.. 8)

Make it about 6-6.30am, depending on light. I'll leave home at 3:30a.

I won't go any further than the border.

It's just too far for me, anywhere around there would be OK though

Unfortunately, yes.... :(

Coolangatta Tweed is a good pick for a social round, good courses, not expensive. You'd better book - it's a big place and tee times can get highly sought after....

I will be in for Murwilliambah.

Me and Fishy can bring along our Tablet PCs and other cool toys so we got something to talk about while them other blokes compare shafts and heads and stuff.

yeah, Murwillambah, talking about heads.....

Murwillumbah is across the border.
My vote is for Cool/Tweed. We may get jarro to this one. It's only just across isn't it?

Jarro

i'll be in for a Cooloongatta/tweed heads game :smt023

anything further south and it's just too much of my day gone :(

AndyP
7th May 2004, 10:04 AM
So Fishy, should we lock Cool/Tweed in? Or do you have to confirm your plans?

Fishman Dan
7th May 2004, 10:12 AM
Definately need to confirm, but don't let me hold you all back! How many expressions of interest were there?

My main problem will be transport to C/T - i'm sure the girls will want to remain at the farm until it's time to head for Brisvegas - and seeing as though we're flying up we won't have our own transport. Might try and have a chat to the Father-in-law who likes to have a hit.

Not only can i get in trouble, but i can lure others in as well...

I'll be back at work by then :(

My holidays finish the Friday of the long weekend

I'll try and scam out of it but I doubt it

Try harder, drunken. If this day falls apart, the blame will fall on you. :P

So I guess this is the first interstate OzGolf Day. :)

Hi guys,

I'm working in Lismore at the moment and I think I have the long weekend off (the roster is not out yet, but I'm pretty sure). If I am free that day, I'd be keen for a hit up north and I can give Dan a lift from Casino. I haven't really had the chance to explore this area yet, but Casino is pretty close to Lismore, right?

Jarro Murwillumbah is about 26ks further than Tweed heads,on a lovely quiet scenic road. Should take about 30mins the way you drive.

Then if you like - i will take you from Nerang, then its only about 15mins further. Then of course HoleinOne taxi is probably going to be there as well.

btw what did you mean by SMT33

AndyP
9th May 2004, 04:56 PM
So, where are we playing again?
If it's an extra 30 mins one way to Murwillumbah, then it is an extra hour overall.

Blakey, SMT33 would be a code for one of those new emoticons.

much as i'd love to Blakey, i'm afraid that's just a little too far for me to travel

..even the way i drive
