the first couple of holes are very ordinary, once the course gets into the undulating parts it really shines.

the back nine is really good in parts, I love the finish from 15-18. 17 probably my pick out of all the holes

The three new courses to me were all memorable. The first being the course of my birth place, then a course where I unexpectedly played some great golf, and a special course in PF.

Is Korumburra worth a day trip? Depends what u want , they have dug up the fairways and planted new grass which hasn’t taken properly, so it’s patchy . The layout is fine the greens are good , it’s hilly . And is a challenge, don’t need driver on a lot of holes but when you do you really do . I will go back for another game

I'm racking up the Jindalee rounds, but it was good to have a change. Gailes is definitely more difficult, as all fairways are tree lined, and the greens are protected by bunkers.

It's nice to return to my old home course for a hit. It wasn't the best time to play it though, as the greens were furry and sanded, and the flags were out; they did provide a pinsheet though. Besides that, condition looked pretty good, and the hills are still there.

I played Oxley for the first time in many years today, and while it is an okay track, there were definitely some frustrating parts to it. My playing bad didn't help my appreciation, but there were just some things about the place I didn't like. Dog legs on the opening two holes that even I can drive through (and did); an internal boxed OOB of some of the 8th fairway from the 7th only, but you don't know where it is from the 7th tee; a stupidly placed tree for the approach on 12th; and a 210m par 3, are the things that come to mind.

The fairways were seemed in decent condition, but it was a bit dry in spots off them, which is where I spent my time. The greens were nothing special, and I think the practice green was the one in the best condition, and misleading; I struggled to get the speed right for a fair while.

There was a temporary green about 100m or so from the 4th tee, and it was way too good looking to be a short term temp green. I wonder why that is there.

Regarding Oxley, I hit an approach over that tree on the 12th last round to the right edge of the green. Would have been great if it was a bit more left, but yeah it can be a problem if you're too close to it. The 13th is a long one for a par 3, was happy I hit the green last round. That green near the fourth tee is the old 3rd, now used as a nursery for repairing greens. I was working there when the new 3rd was built. On the left side walking down to the current 3rd green is the old 4th tee box (where the retaining wall is). I found the greens didn't look too bad but they played pretty true and I was able to judge speed pretty well, not always line though.As for the rough I don't think it gets watered so pretty much at the mercy of the weather.

Greens, tees and fairways were generally really good, surrounds good.

Bunkers awful and full of water.

They have cut back a bit of the rough which widens up the playing corridors.

You can see where costs are being cut, but it's worth the visit

Quite impressed with the course (struck some rain so not so much fun) but yea a good track with some tricky holes. Got lost a couple of times on the back nine figuring out where the holes were.

I remember a short par 4 with a pond in front and a massive tree hanging over the pond, so had to hit a low pitch under the tree but over the pond. Was quite tricky.

I just looked up when I last played at Redland Bay and it was in July 2006. I can't believe it has been that long, considering the number of OZgolf rounds played there in that time, albeit on early Friday mornings.

Nice course considering how flat the land is, and quite challenging. Plenty of fairway bunkers to contend with; I found three, with a poor out every time.

My OCD wouldn't have been able to handle only playing the front nine of Wolston Park, so the full 18 is done now.

The main changes that I noticed were that they had a cart shed now (for private carts, I assume), and they had added some extra tees (Gold) in for Honour Board events. For those that know the course, there is a tee area back and left of the usual spot on the 1st; the 6th could be played from the 9th tee, and the 9th gold tee was on the other side of the 4th fairway. Today, we only played off the longer tees on the first.

I don't think I will be returning to Karana Downs in a hurry. I remembered it as being a better and a bit of a fun course, but the condition isn't great, not that many courses are when it is dry, but the greens were average also. There are several holes where local knowledge is needed just to play some holes too, which was a bit annoying.

The 14th is currently out of play, so to have an 18th hole, they moved the first tee to a temp area, making it a 200m dogleg par 4 (you can go for the green over the trees). They created a temp par 3 that runs from beside the 18th fairway to a dustbowl temp green on the hill near the usual 1st tee. This temp green is terrible, and the local we played with said there that there is a maximum two putts rule if you are on the green surface, that is, if you land on the green, you have a guaranteed par; I didn't see it on the local rules board though. The green turned my birdie chance from just off the edge of the green (not in 2 putt max range) into a bogey. The other change is that the 13th tee got moved forward due to someone hurting themselves on the path that goes up to the old tee, so now it is a 220m dogleg par 4, and once again you can try to go over the trees.

What BITS said. Gailes has been in great condition every time I've played it this year. The third is out of play now, while they re-do the green, so the par 5 ninth, is split into 9A and 9B for a par 3 and 4. I haven't played there since this has been done.

My first new Queensland course for the year. Rosewood isn't in the greatest nick, especially the heavily treed front nine, which had lots of bare patches. The back nine was in better condition, with more fairway grass, although it looks like the storms have prevented a recent mow. The greens have hail damage too, which I've never seen before. The back nine opens up and plays a bit easier.

I played with a couple of members this morning, and it would have been tougher to play the course without them telling me the best line to play, as there are quite a few doglegs or trees in or encroaching on fairways. I'd play it again if it was in better condition, but I think poor conditioning for country courses is just the way things are now.

Hamilton Island had some stunning scenery which I enjoyed soaking in, but I'm not convinced that it is a great course design.

Whitsunday green was a weird pitch n putt course where there was no hole over 85 metres. The strange part was that it was lush, had bunkers, and hazard crossings (dry creek or dam) on all holes except for one. Hamilton Island had some stunning scenery which I enjoyed soaking in, but I'm not convinced that it is a great course design.

Whitsunday green was a weird pitch n putt course where there was no hole over 85 metres. The strange part was that it was lush, had bunkers, and hazard crossings (dry creek or dam) on all holes except for one. The greens weren't great, but I don't know if they can continue to maintain it considering it is well out from the tourist centre of Airlie Beach. I think the plan is to build a community village around the Whitsunday Greens, not sure it will take off though. Sounds like the greens havn't improved from when I played it.

I'm falling behind in my list. I've added another five courses in the last few weeks, four being completely new to me, with more to come in 2020.

Lowood was a decent nine hole country track, with different tees for the second nine. The second set of tees did make the holes play differently mostly, including changing the pars on a couple of holes. The fairways were patchy, but preferred lie was in play. The greens were a bit long to protect them from the heat, but they still rolled well. I'd be happy to play there again.

Burleigh had copped a lot of rain a couple of weeks ago and was quite soggy with zero run on the drives, but no real casual water around. The fairways seemed quite wide, but if you missed far enough to go in the trees, punching out sideways was pretty much the only option. The first was out of play while they did some green work, but they had a proper temp hole at the back of the 14th tee in play. It was an undulating course, which was in good condition otherwise.

Surfers Paradise had copped the same rain, but had coped with it differently. The water just seemed to pool in puddles in some places, and casual water drops were required, particularly in one area of the course, other than that area it was pretty dry. Most of the course was pretty open, except for a stretch of holes on the front nine that was quite tight. Surfers also had a hole out of play, and also had a permanent temp hole that could be used in its place.

RQ is just a different course to anything else in Qld, from the openness to the challenges on and around the greens, and the bunkering. It's great.

Glenview had full length par 3s, with small greens. The length of the holes ranged from 90m to 185m, but most played in the 140-160m area. So while the holes looked different, they didn't play much differently, as I was hitting the same club to the same sized target. Still, it serves its purpose as a family friendly venue for golf.

2x COVID induced trip cancellations cost me 23 courses in Scotland and 7 in South Australia. Plus my work travel got turned into zoom calls in March and hasn’t returned, which killed off a few more. Still, looks like I ended up with more than I thought I would given everything that has happened in 2020. 2/3 of them are first timers for me too which is nice.

I really liked Maleny. When you drive into the carpark, you can see the outlay of the course and about 14 of the 18 holes. It's open and undulating, with nasty roughy and tricky greens. It is definitely a course that I will return to.

Maroochy River was a good course too. Less variety in terrain, but in very good condition.

Onto 2021.
