View Full Version : How has the passing of Tigers father affected his golf?

I thought I'd take a peak at tigers results since the passing of his father. A major life event for him, especially with the obvious bond they had.

His first event was the us open, where he missed the cut. More than understandable. Since then he has played 4 events, finishing T2, 1, 1, 1. Two of those majors. Now that's getting some composure back.

Yeah, he's probably going, Dad why didn't you die 10 years ago? NOT!
Good on him.

doesn't seem to have affected him at all. If anything , he looks to have even more focus and determination ... a scary, scary thought

I will agree with Jarro here I reckon he now sees golf as his way of dealing with it all. The win @ the British Open highlighted that, now he has released the emotions in front of people, I doubt anything will ever make him think he can't do it and has the resolve to come from behind.
He is going to blow golf records away and be the standard that we will all want to get to.

He's current world ranking points are 20.99. The nearest to him is 8.93 for phil in No.2. More than double the points of his closest rival. He's not streets ahead - he's in a completely different postcode, maybe even state.

I heard once that the guy that is 200th in the world has more chance of getting to no.2 in the world than no.2 has of getting to no.1.

If you took enough of Tiger's results to give him 8.94 points I assume (I don't know how these things are calculated) he'd have enough points from the remaining results to be higher than Phil also, thereby sort of making him #1 and #2 in the world, with Phil at #3. Since these rankings were instigated has anyone else had this sort of dominance?

I think no. And I remember your point being brought up before a few years ago.

I had been wondering the same thing. I'm really keen to improve my game and I asked my Dad to make the supreme sacrifice - but he wasn't too keen.:smt087 ( insert tongue in cheek here)

Even when he tries to lose he still seems to win. He couldn't have given the field a better opportunity to win and he still came out on top. That's 4 in a row from 5.
