The Vic Champs has been stuffy for too long with fancy pancy courses.
It may have been a 4am idea at the faux champs, but surely the Real Vic Champs thread, including the above comment, made it happen. Will this be a gross only Champs too?

Is that an in?I have declared my interest, and at the moment, my travel schedule looks light this year, which makes me more likely. I've spent multiple weeks away from home for work at the start of the year in four of the last five years, so let's see if the trend changes.

OK, so it seems Portland Bay Lodge is available at this stage every day for the period Thursday 30th Jan through to the weekend of March 22nd.

Catering is an extra $60 per day and is all the food and drink we can consume, so I think we'll opt in to that for $2 per person per day!

Opening a can of worms here but does anyone have any dates that they simply have to avoid to be able to make this. This is your one and only chance....

Oh, and apparently previous golf groups have used the beach volleyball court to practice their bunker shots, so there's that! LOL

Weekend of 23rd and 24th to be avoided, I'll try my best.

Kind of suits as I was leaning towards the weekend of 15th and 16th anyway. Only issue that may arise from this is that weekend is VERY likely to be Portland's club champs on the Saturday. Not an issue in regards to getting on, just may mean a slightly fuller field which could push our tee times towards 11AM instead of 12ish.

That catering price per head? Seems too cheap.

"Catering is an additional $60 per 24 hour period and covers all the food and drink you can can consume.

We also pack take away lunches and do the washing up so if you want a very relaxing weekend then this highly recommended."

I'm worried about that also. $60 per head would be phenomenally expensive, and surely no one would ever do that, but $60 for the group per day seems too low. I'll have to clarify this.

Lefty, can you put me down for the Fri-Sun golf and 3 nights accommodation (staying Sunday night).

I gather $60 would cover a hot breakfast with cereal, buffet lunch and hot dinner with dessert. Drinks would be tea, coffee and cordial.

We used to get offered similar, with 15 - 35 staying at a Jindayne lodge in summer. (We did a deal to only have the evening meal, and cereal/toast for brekkie.)

Probably only require Breakfast Friday to Sunday, really.

Friday meal we can have at PF GC, Saturday meal we can have at Portland GC. Thursday meal I might get some subway platters made up or similar?

I could even order in pies and sausage rolls from the local bakery. Best Steak, bacon and cheese pies you'll EVER ****ing have.

This.

Sounds like we have support for the dates of 13th - 17th of February, 2020. It's a small shame as that is traditionally the weekend that Heywood have their 27 hole 4 person Ambrose and it would be great to incorporate that into Champs somehow, but I can't see a way of it happening.

Anyway, this is the proposed date. I'll let you all know once I know.

And sounds like some good support for baked goods for Thursday night dinner. I'll get a list of food items and prices and pre-order as we get closer.

Used to love visiting Warrnambool, had a really nice client (music store) based on Lava Street. Occasionally I would have enough time to head to Port Fairy for a quick 18 holes before heading home to Melbourne or onto Mt Gambier

It’s a fine line.

Can your work trip be side shifted to accommodate?

It's for a training block organised for multiple people, so I have no say in the dates, and I can only get training in this product by attending. I can only question the need for the training, and considering I've just had four weeks of training in other things, I think they are overloading my poor little brain with too much information that may not even get used.

Portland have confirmed the availability of 4 carts, and 5 standard push carts. (First in best dressed)

They may be able to beg and plead some members for their ride-in carts, but can't guarantee anything.

So I need to know some numbers of who wants what, and give them every chance to get the right numbers of things.

Carts are $30, push carts are free. There may be a couple other push carts I can borrow from mates too.
